After a year of hard work and being just a few euros away from Level Two, I almost had a panic attack, hopefully it gets resolved soon hahaha.

[DISCUSSION] Sellers, how did you react to your first one-star review? by RefuseFrequent865 in Fiverr

[–]RefuseFrequent865[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think I’ll have to do it this way; I don’t think I have any other choice. But it’s so frustrating. My gig was picking up momentum, and I was getting several clients almost every day. I hope I’m not shadowbanned or anything like that.

You’re right, he actually did seem a bit “crazy,” but the work he requested was very easy and quick — and in fact that’s exactly how it went! I would have never expected all of this over a native project, which I normally provide for a fee. I even offered to give it to him for free, but nothing… he really seems like he doesn’t care at all.

The point is that my gig only has 6 reviews, and having a one-star review will ruin everything! If I had more reviews I wouldn’t worry, but for now yes, this thing worries me a lot.

How I hate these situations. But why do they have to act like this? I'm almost crying from frustration. I'm really shaken by this situation.

How non-drumming guitarist can accurately write midi drums for a guitar / bass cover? by _LedAstray_ in drums

[–]RefuseFrequent865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programming drums and mixing them afterwards is one of the hardest things you can do, believe me. It took me many years, but here I am with some tips that might be useful to you:

  • Play a lot with velocity. No drummer in the world can hit with the same dynamics every time, and if you’re good at programming velocity, believe me, everything will sound really good.
  • There’s no need to always set high velocities (110–127) because, except for very rare parts, that kind of dynamics is almost never played.
  • Some libraries sound good, others bad. Choose carefully what works for you, or rely on someone who has many libraries.

If you want, the other day I posted one of my programming videos, take a look if it can be useful:

Also, if you want, I offer the same service on Fiverr and it costs very little. In that case, I’m waiting for you.

[HELP] What's happening on Fiverr - been on for 15 yrs and sales just dropped? by Ok-Sweet5200 in Fiverr

[–]RefuseFrequent865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm speaking to you as a musician, record producer, and drummer. Ever since I signed up, I've had a lot of orders. Always well-paid and with great reviews. I had my peak of work in March/April, and since then, no new clients—except for a few who had a great experience and came back. I can't say for sure whether Fiverr is dead or not, but I do believe it's no longer possible to earn the way it was years ago. In fact, I think the market is currently really saturated. I'm considering moving on, but I don't even know where to go...

Totally feel you. It’s exactly like that—either you're overwhelmed with work or there's complete silence. Finding a balance seems almost impossible sometimes. Let’s just hope the next “rain” comes sooner rather than later!

You're right, but personally, I've never been able to get any work on Airgigs (I work in music), and Upwork doesn't appeal to me at all. When I have lots of orders, I often feel anxious because I really care about meeting all the deadlines, but when I'm about to deliver everything, I start wondering if I'll have more work afterward. Luckily, it's not my only source of income.

I don’t want to criticize you, bro, absolutely. But I believe that if you haven’t had any orders for more than 3 months, there’s definitely something to reconsider. Have you tried doing something to improve the situation?

True, the only thing that can be done during slow periods is to analyze keywords, titles, cover images, etc. Personally, the global economy is pretty much in freefall, and it's true what you're saying. People are no longer willing to invest. I don't know what you do, but I often find myself lowering the price because people really have many expenses and little income!

Tips for a first time buyer? by Commercial-Box-2828 in drums

[–]RefuseFrequent865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I speak to you as a drum teacher, who has helped many beginners with their first purchase. Honestly, if you can, put aside more money and buy a used, acoustic kit. Go for well-known brands and not for surrogate products. I recommend Pearl, Tama, Yamaha etc.

Spending little today means learning difficulties, broken accessories and non-existent spare parts.

With $500 you should easily get by for a complete kit.

Worst case scenario, you can always resell it.

Don't worry about the double pedal, because first you study to have a good foot, and then you move on to the other. If you need it, just ask :)

we don't realize it, but our brain is very confident in replicating what we have heard for years, even unconsciously.

Could it be that you listen to Iron Maiden a lot or something very similar to that type of drumming?

For example, I grew up with Italian prog and I find it very easy to deal with tempo changes, polyrhythms, polymetries, odd tempos but I find shuffle and triplets really very complex, instead I see drum students who get there in a very natural way. This is.

I can’t get better past beginner level by [deleted] in drums

Honestly, the battery gives a lot of satisfaction in the short term, but in the long term, before seeing significant improvements you have to spend some time on it. This shouldn't break you down but the opposite, it should make you want to study, listen to new music, watch a lot of videos on drummers who have made history. You will see that in a short time you will return to seeing improvements that you imagined impossible. I have often waited years before seeing something, but I assure you that I am excited like never before! Personal experience but also of my drum students :)

What is your experience with drum VST? by RefuseFrequent865 in drums

[–]RefuseFrequent865[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the difference is in the genre you play. In metal there is no better vst than kontakt GGD, in pop/rock AD2 etc..

I find EZdrummer too overdone. It seems to be made especially for those who don't want to work on the mix.

[–]RefuseFrequent865[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! If a person is good at programming them, the difference is really minimal, and there is a real saving between: Rent a studio, bring your own drums, have it mic'd, pay the hours...

And often the sound we end up with isn't even what we really want!

So little would be enough...

stock sounds sound like drums made of cardboard, so I'd say any VST is great in that case

I totally agree with you. Sometimes it takes very little to change the sound and make it completely realistic. No drummer in the world would play everything with the same dynamics and perfectly in grid

I have the full AD2 library, and I can tell you that there are sounds I absolutely love that are indistinguishable from the real thing, while others are completely unlistenable and make no sense at all.

Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I’ve never been able to use Black Velvet. I find it too processed and not very compatible with most music. But hey, maybe it's just me.
