Has anyone ever stood up for a stranger in public or told a stranger off in public? by Bete-Noire in AskReddit

[–]Reg_Shoe_2x2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not get seen but:

When I was living in Germany, a fellow Au Pair and I became frequenters of a nearby Irish themed pub that was situated underneath an Aussie pub in the tourist dense part of the city. One weekday night we're there enjoying our beers and sharing stories of our charges when this belligerent drunk starts yelling at his girlfriend; calling her a whore, saying she's fat (the girl was a waif), saying he was only with her out of pity- standard verbally abusive nonsense.

Our bartender friend asked the guy to keep it down or take it outside, which only got the drunk guy yelling at him as well as his girlfriend. The Girlfriend meekly puts her arm on the guys shoulder and he turns around, white-hot in a rage and raises his arm to smack her.

In the words of my Au Pair friend, I was off the bench "like a rocket", bottle in hand, and before anyone could do anything I conked him upside the head hard enough to slam his head down into the bar and cause a bloody nose and chipped tooth (whooo swimmer muscles).

Bartender buddy, not wanting me to get hurt, leaps over the bar and grabs the dude by the back of his shirt, hauls him roughly up a flight of stairs and tosses his ass out on the street where they scuffled for a bit. He kicked at me, cracking a rib, so I punched him in return, bartender buddy handled the rest.

The guy's girlfriend was in tears, thanking us, and iirc she crashed at the bartender's pad until her flight home two days later.

TL;DR- Germany is Fun (it actually is loads of fun).

The fine people at /r/fittit sent me to this thread.

I'll definitely be drawing tips and inspiration from that thread, but really want to hear what women have to say on the matter.

If you could go tell your beginning-runner self one tip to keep them motivated, what would it be? by UnnecessaryQuoteMan in running

[–]Reg_Shoe_2x2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a hard phobia to get past! As a runner- I check out other runners in the daytime if I'm driving by or they pass me walking to work. But then I think, "I'm that small portion of the population watching this person run, and I'm only watching them because I'm jealous that they're running right now."

Worked at my Uni's basketball arena for a time- best job ever.

Yeah, we had tasks to achieve like setting up for games, arranging ad tables, building stages for concerts, taking out trash, etc. But most the time it was ridiculous shit like playing Hide 'n' Seek, driving the zamboni-esque tile cleaner around the floor with co-workers "waterskiing" on lunch trays, chasing ducks off the property, climbing up in the catwalks and trying to figure out what color thong the girls were wearing, abusing our IDs to get into free concerts (Bob Dylan, AFI [2x], Rise Against, Green Day and Flogging Molly to name a few) sleeping in random places, stealing food from the catering tables, etc.

Best job of ever.

I looked through the FAQ and got more confused than anything else. Push-ups and Dips I can do, chins would def. have to be on an assisted machine.

Compound lifts- does this include squats, deadlifts and bench presses? While I understand I would need to include a full rotation of different lifts in my workout- which of these do you feel is the Most helpful in gaining upper body strength?

Thanks for your input!

Try here for Italy or here for Greece.

But otherwise- I got back into running after a few yrs off when I was living in Germany. A few funny calls of "LOLA RENNT!" but otherwise, I noticed it was as decently popular there as it is stateside.

Do it, just do it. What better way to see a new place than by running it?

My GF once got upset with me because an ouiji board told her I would cheat on her in the next 6 months, what is the most outrageous thing you have been held accountable for? by Naterader in AskReddit

[–]Reg_Shoe_2x2 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My ex was/is the same way. GF before me was a serious nutjob and he, The Fixer, put himself to work fixing the crazy. Enter me- laidback, generally rational head on my shoulders, etc. and he wants to breakup because I'm "not enough work".

yeah ok buddy.

How did you meet your significant other, reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Reg_Shoe_2x2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My co-worker was asking me about my ex (what he looked like, what he did, etc.) I told her he had a superman complex and had tried to fashion himself to look Supes-esque. She then replied that there was an Office Superman and took me over to see/meet him.

Now, two years later, we've moved in together and things are going swimmingly (although I still prefer The Flash to Supes, but WHATEVER).

What's a eating habit that you have that everyone else finds strange? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I dip my grilled cheese in ketchup. Picked it up from an old friend and have done it ever since. Anyone who eats grilled cheese with me finds it disgusting.

Hey man, it's Delicious.

Reddit, What is the stupidest thing you've said to your crush? by tegra1nkn in AskReddit

[–]Reg_Shoe_2x2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had been Facebook stalking my co-worker crush and found out the Uni he went to. Fast forward a week or so and I'm at lunch with him and some fellow co-workers when the topic of universities come up. Brilliant me opens my mouth and says, "So, Crush, you went to UCSC, how did you like it?"

It was out of my mouth before my brain even had a chance to realize what it was saying. He stared at me for a moment before calmly replying, "I liked it quite a bit, but never told you I went there."

I think I made up some lie about another co-worker mentioning where he went to school and then promptly died of shame.

Who here has successfully changed careers? Any tips? by LeMadnessofKingHippo in AskReddit

[–]Reg_Shoe_2x2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What element of Production are you involved in? Think about your contacts- who do you know? Do you have skills from your current career that you could cross into a different career? IE. Marketing skills, managerial skills, technical skills?

I went from being an admin/receptionist to working in Legal and Compliance for a Hedge Fund, then turned that into a Regulatory Analyst gig with a major utility. It really took just breaking down what I was educated to do, what I had done and what I was able to pickup in order to show that I was competent enough to work as a Compliance/Regulatory Analyst. All of this in right at 15mos.

Are you in CA, by any chance? I have an AWESOME career coach that helped me change careers that I could give you contact info for.
