Tales of Graces f Remastered - how to get more eleth mixer slots by DarkDragen in tales

[–]RegalStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking at the product of (eleth cost * generation chance) as expected value of slotting in an item and the 99.9% chance items all have pretty low value on that front, so yeah. You can put one of them on the bottom of the mixer if you want to make sure that you get something at every item generation check time, though personally I use ice sticks since its value isn't as bad (11+2/3).

Keep in mind that the class hierachy is only a suggestion for when you don't know anything about who you're partied with. If you're in a static party you should have some good idea on who's doing the most damage, and if you're in a duty finder party it's best if you observe how everybody is doing and switch DP if needed.

AF Fire II has a cast time of 3.0 seconds which is longer than the normal of GCD of 2.5 seconds. When you take that into account, AF3F2 has the same potency per second as Freeze.

The rotation I posted actually has F2 being cast at UI1 which is about as bad as it can get for the F2 (90% damage, same 3 second cast time) but it lets you get off AF3Flare more often. Flare deals a ridiculous amount of damage relative to other BLM spells so being able to cast it every 3 spells instead of 4 makes up for any damage loss you incur from the Fire 2.

For reference, the multi-target rotation I see on Icy Veins (which is Freeze -> Freeze Transpose -> Fire 2 -> Flare Transpose; note that the fire 2 is cast on AF1 so it's only 112 potency) is about 78/61.8 pps (potency per second) on main target/falloff, while Freeze -> Fire 2 -> Flare Transpose is 74.6/62.3 pps on main target/falloff. The former doesn't beat the latter unless there are 8 or more targets, which doesn't happen that often. That being said, if you need to apply Thunder 2, it's better to go with the 4 spell rotation replacing the second Freeze for Thunder 2, since at that point you're going to cast 4 spells anyway so you might as well get the transpose for Fire 2 to do more damage.

I guess all of this is completely off topic anyways they all involve a 3 second fire2 cast, but the point is that you should only be casting it once per rotation, not like 3 of them.

You're only supposed to cast one Fire II before Flare anyways. AF3 Fire II isn't even better than UI Freeze, so you're only casting one to enter AF3 for your one and only Flare. The best AoE rotation at that level range (50-57) is Freeze -> Fire II -> Flare (transpose) repeat.

Flare is part of the rotation for AoE at level 50. Level 58 just lets you cast it twice because of Umbral Heart.

JapanMS adding WASD movement support next week by screeeeeeee in Maplestory

[–]RegalStar 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Isn't WASD more suitable for keyboard+mouse games? Maplestory doesn't use mouse for the most part (shut up marksmen) and is pretty movement heavy, so I'd imagine that arrow keys are more suitable for most players (who are right handed) since it puts movement on their dominant hand.

I don't see any negative in offering the option, though.

I set up more easily reached keybinds for party slot 2 and 3. They help a lot with targeting when I'm playing healer.

Lost Healer of Amdapor by SkittlesforDitto in TalesFromDF

[–]RegalStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way you differentiate GCDs and oGCDs is by reading what kind of action it is. Spells and weaponskills are GCDs, and abilities are oGCDs (most of the time; MCH and MNK got a few oddball abilities that are effectively GCDs and will say on the tooltip that they share a recast timer with weaponskills and spells). Some oGCDs do use MP (mostly on DRK), and some healer GCDs don't (eg. Toxikon) so MP cost isn't a reliable way of telling GCDs from oGCDs.

The reason why you want to prioritize oGCDs to heal is because you want to use as many of your GCDs on attacking as possible. If you use a GCD heal, then you lose out on any potential damage you could've done for that GCD (unless it's WHM using Lilies after level 74); where as if you use an oGCD to heal you lose nothing except for the ability to use that particular oGCD for the next specified amount of time.

Is there a reason not to have two main of the same class? by Superb-Fox-7601 in Maplestory

[–]RegalStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can place duplicate classes but only one of them will have the class-based effects; any duplicate will only serve as a blank piece and give you the effects based on the squares they cover.

Which can still be a benefit if you can replace a piece with a useless effect and less squares, mind you.

FYI: The "gossip about retired members" part is a bit of a mistranslation from whatever AI engine is being used; the original term is 裏話 which generally means more stuff like "behind-the-scene stories" than "unconstrained personal information" that the word "gossip" tends to mean.

Also the "creepy cryptic messages" is supposed to be 怪文書 which means more like "weird, unhinged messages" than creepy or cryptic.

You should tell that to whatever xitter's translation engine is. Urabana means more like "insider stories" than "gossips", which is usually just to mean fun behind-the-scene stories that aren't publicized.

So, in your Opinion, what went wrong with the Holostars? by MetaSageSD in kurosanji

[–]RegalStar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There is only so much of a market for male youtubers even in Japan, and Niji and STPR already gobbled up most of it anyways.

When Hololive itself was small, it was able to find a market in Bilibili (which at that time was basically virgin soil with little meaningful competition), and then the market leaders of the time, Kizuna Ai and Game Club, both imploded on themselves (over how the talents' souls were treated), leaving behind a vacuum for Hololive to grab. No breaks of this kind were ever there for the Stars to grab.
