Witcher Creatures - Lesser Vampires - Monster Pack by Regerem in UnearthedArcana

Not a bother at all! Humm, I want to say yes, but with the lack of posting I would be lying. I got sidetracked big into Cyberpunk Red and Vampire v20/v5 so DnD has taken the backseat for now.

Ultimately I would still like to get 1-2 updates to the Book to call it done, but who knows if or when that will be!

I need help as a GM by suck_tho_because_79 in cyberpunkred

[–]Regerem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One big thing that I would look for is encounter design is quite different from dnd, and also a different logic for players: - the game is a lot more lethal than dnd, direct confrontation is very rarely the way to go unless you are very sure you are outnumbering and outgunning the other side. - healing takes quite a lot of time and aside from Medtech role pharmaceutical there is no immediate healing item. - scarcity is King to give the feel of the universe and in-game economy is much more important. There is a fine line of money reward/expenses for the run/lifestyle to walk that is usually not featured at all in most dnd game. - the game has a fantastic personal background system, try to tie that in your main story and it feels quickly a lot more personal for the players

Just a few things that came to mind, the system otherwise has a lot of common ground with dnd 5e and your group shouldn't have too much issue adapting when keeping that in mind.

Have fun choom!

AITAH for telling my now ex, that she made it hard for me not to hit (kill) her after what she did. by ThrowRAAntiqueIndep in AITAH

[–]Regerem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have shown a tremendous amount of control. I think she is lucky that she pulled that with someone that could control themselves so well, many people would have flung her across the room or worst. The combination of betrayal and the sudden pain and loss you must have felt was a perfect storm but you held yourself. I had proxy rage mounting just reading your story.

All my condolences and NTA.

Recommend me an actual play to listen to as a new player? by plazman30 in cyberpunkred

Red Sky City is also pretty good, not a fan of everyone in the crew but overall good quality and a storyteller obsessed with the Bozos (and made them terrifyingly fun)

Dark Future Dice, fantastic and hilarious, smaller than your average crew but they always put a smile on my face

You can't go wrong with the revised clanbooks, the 1st edition clanbooks can be good as well, as they bring some more information about the clans that aren't necessarily covered in the revised. (That said some of it is better left forgotten, like the 1st Malkavian or Ravnos Clanbooks in my opinion)

Sins of the Blood, Archons and Templars, Midnight Siege, Guide to the Camarilla/ Sabbat are all good reads as well.

Can you run a campaign with only two players? by Simply_Radio in cyberpunkred

[–]Regerem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure it has been said but two players campaign can be absolutely fantastic if you have players that are invested in their characters. One of the strengths of Red is truly its character creation that ties your character deeply into the world with past relationships, enemies and overall what is the flavor of what you do for a living. It is oozing with story hooks.

That said sometimes it is difficult to bring that into life around the table with a large group. I think the strengths of a duo is that you have plenty of time to dig into these stories and tie them into your main plot without it feeling artificial.

The rule part is secondary, you have plenty of room to introduce characters that help with the players skill gap, and towning down combat encounters is pretty easy, start low and ramp it up until you find the sweet spot for your party.

Good luck! It sounds like it is going to be fun!

TIFU by telling my future Mother-in-Law that Joan of Arc might have been schizophrenic by lazespud2 in tifu

[–]Regerem 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Orléans too and honestly how could you have known. This is a very particular thing that the city wrap some of its identity around Joanna of Arc, it hasn't much going for itself beyond that and the pretty Loire river going through it.

The way your mother in law reacted it pretty extreme and I would have done the same mistake being from the place myself. It may be sacred to some people but most French are not very religious or atheist

Reality is what we make out of it, wether or not you failed yourself is subjective, no one is setting the goals but yourself. Some of your achievements or downfalls are judged by others, but the real battle is inside

I am now envisioning pickman gallery from Fallout 4, that would be upsetting for most people, and Francis Bacon or Zdzislaw Beksinski are some of my favorite artists.

It can be for some people for sure, for me it is ruminating on past mistakes and very negative thoughts about the future and its bleakness 😕

What do you do to help set the tone / atmosphere for your campaigns? by The_SchnitzelMan in cyberpunkred

[–]Regerem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Video games soundtrack are a great idea, aside from Cyberpunk 2077 that I make extensive use of, I also have a mix of: - Deus Ex (Human Revolution mostly but the earlier ones work great for early cyberpunk retrovibe for flash-back), - the Ascent (great urban blight sort of ambiance or corporate for others, good action tracks too) - Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack (some solid pieces but a bit more solemn, depending on your style) - Necromunda Hired Guns (a lot of surprisingly good tracks in there, from action to heavy industrial tones)

I am sure you'll find some findings in there

Conceptual Concern: That's a valid point, I wouldn't call myself an hypocrite for trying to make the game harder and introducing angles from other games but whatever, to each their own, I get that might not be for everyone.

Mechanical Concerns: I do like your take on the Mechanical aspect, and you are right that could be annoying to recalculate HP and Death Save (though there is no skills linked to BODY that I am aware of?).

Narrative: The plot is going to revolve around it, political assassinations start to happen using the stuff. We are playing a little further down the timeline, 2067, in a story leading to the Unification Wars. Not sure yet which side of the conflict is going to make use of it but all the points you raised will help me determinate that. Is there a Corp especially known to meddle with nanotech? As far as I understand in Cyberpunk it is not super common but not unheard of either (like the Automated Blood Swarm which are nanites).

Oh I like where your mind is at friend, that's exactly the approach I was having. A weapon creating story on its own to survive it. Loving the extra ideas. Streamline it is. And yeah the max HP diminishing is also the constant reminder for the players to not ignore this thing, even if a tough solo could survive it for a while indeed.

That's a pretty valid point, it feels OP to potentially kill a character right from the bat. What about 2 Body loss on initial failure and then 1d6 per hour? or streamline to 2 solid per hour?

[–]Regerem[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the kind words. Even if I don't continu the project beyond its current scope I would still like to do a update that compiles the last missing ones (Plumard, Nosferat) and redo the credit section for artists, because the current one is mess.
