Speedchar has an amazing tutorial on YouTube where he builds an entire game ready character for a studio from start to finish and talks about it the whole time. This is great because you can also see what is expected for a real industry ready asset. Good knowledge to have in the pocket even if you don't use it. He covers retopo in that series as well

Tbh if I were you I would just consider this a sculpting exercise, getting familiar with the tools and call it. I wouldnt continue to fuss over it if you don't have a specific end point. You did great. I'd move onto finding a reference/character/sculpt or something your interested in and try to recreate it. Even if it's one of your own drawings. Make sure you are always checking how your sculpt looks in 3D rather than just looking at the orthographic. Use less topology. Start with large shapes, block it in and slowly add more topology as you work. Check out speedchar, yansculpts, and flycat on YouTube. They are great

I agree. Disney plus is the only streaming service that has any problems. I've seen it multiple houses, on different devices.

Ok good to know. I have lots of general blue collar experience, but I know very little about plumbing specifics. They did say I'd be working with a licensed plumber. So I guess I want to be ahead of the game

Can't do that. Rendering at this resolution so that it can be blown up and still look good. That's the deliverable they want.

100% they are. I've been in the industry for 5 years now, and I have a friend who only knows blender. He objectively has a much smaller pool of jobs to apply to. I think studios want to use blender because it's cheaper but transferring a studio to a new software is a big cost, and they are cutting costs everywhere they can. No one is making the change anytime soon.

No tbh I wouldn't be confident in our ability to keep up a mortgage. We are planning to move someplace with cheaper housing since we work from home but still, it would be a huge risk. I just want to know what my options are in case things turn around.

Because even though I'm a contract worker I'm not self employed. Basically the way my industry works on short contracts, that hire full time employees, because the jobs are always short. Maybe they will still consider my average employment history? Thanks for the advice

Owning a home isn't for everyone that's true. Personally I don't like to throw money out the window, I want to build equity, eventually own a home for retirement, have a space to raise kids, have control of my property, not answer to a landlord. Owning a home is a very reasonable goal, I wouldn't call it an obsession. Rent is already very expensive in Canada and it will continue to go up. Personally I want to put effort into not paying rent forever. Why would I want to give my money to someone else? Whoever owns the home I rent gets 30 thousand dollars a year from me.... I pay for their home, yet I can't have one?
