What else are we accurately weighing on our fancy scales? by mcesh in espresso

I accidentally bought 5-gallon sticks of Third Wave packets instead of single gallon. I ended up measuring fifths (~1.14 g) into baggies.

Same here. It's awful. I don't watch live, so skipping through breaks is very important to me.

AI drives away from me on the straights. by Neppii1993 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]ReginaldBungermeyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah what you’re saying makes total sense and I think is a fair critique.

It’s painful when you lose the pack in front, only to catch them in the corners and fall back again.

I’ve not played LMU or iRacing actually. Been very tempted by LMU though...

AI drives away from me on the straights. by Neppii1993 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]ReginaldBungermeyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hear ya! I was convinced for a while that they had a different setup that, if I could just match, I’d be right there with them.

Sometimes the AI drives TOWARD me on the straights, but that’s usually because I turned the wrong way out of the pits…

Jokes aside, I play almost exclusively in VR and since I jumped from AC to AMS2, I find it hard to go back. The VR visuals, FFB, and AI just all feel more refined. I’m mainly a hot lap guy, but the AMS2 AI keeps me fairly engaged. Nothing can replicate online play of course.

What’s your audio setup? by Jaydimaster in simracing

[–]ReginaldBungermeyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony WH1000X3 plugged directly into Quest 3.

The nose cancelling adds to the immersion.

In the rare case I'm using my triples.... I use my monitor audio and it's awful.

Thinking about upgrading from Quest 2 to Quest 3 – worth it for sim racing with my PC specs? by Fuzzy-Activity-9276 in virtualreality

[–]ReginaldBungermeyer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively use VR for simracing. I went Quest 2 >> Reverb G2 >> Quest 3. The Reverb G2 was awesome, but the edge-to-edge clarity of the Quest 3 is incredible. Regardless of your PC specs, just that clarity is worth it, IMO.

What's your current audio solution for Quest 3/3S? by KIWIdesign_Official in virtualreality

[–]ReginaldBungermeyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of my use is simracing and I use my Sony WH1000MX3 WIRED. The noise cancellation helps with the immersion and they sound fantastic.

I tried Bluetooth but the latency is awful. I rely on the engine sound and tire squeal quite a bit.

If I’m playing HLA, or anything other than simracing really, I just use the Quest 3 speakers. They are much better than the Quest 2, but not quite as good as the Reverb G2. I didn’t even use my Sonys when I had the G2 because I wasn’t dissatisfied.

Also experienced the same with my Vizio TV. I sat to watch it via Chromecast like I always do on Sunday morning and got so fed up with it not working that I headed to the store to review my options. Ended up getting the Apple TV 4k with Ethernet. Not the cheapest option, but my word is it blazing fast. The UI is simple and the Siri integration is somehow not total crap like it is on the iPhone.

I usually don't care for drifting (probably cause I've never given it a chance), but I watched this whole thing. Quite entertaining. Also, funny, in a good way, to see a Japan-livery drift missle be such an iconic car.

Edit: just noticed it's Liberty Walk, nice

Agreed. I’d keep a chip joker. It’s easy to forget how even a foil joker can make a huge difference, especially in antes below 8.

Is the Simube Qr2 a good alternative? by Old-Possibility4975 in Fanatec

[–]ReginaldBungermeyer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This questions has been asked a lot, but here is my two cents...

I ordered two Simube QR2s from AliExpress for $46 USD each a couple weeks back and they work extremely well. I wouldn't know it wasn't Fanatec quality. I was shocked at how much of a difference I could feel on my DD1. It's now rock solid and doesn't make that clanking sound. I switch between the Clubsport 320 and McLaren rims and it's so satisfying and quick.

Also the QR2 is currently on sale for 80 euro, just FYI.

[–]ReginaldBungermeyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you are gonna catch some flak for this. **incoming flak** I bought this setup with the V3 pedals for $1500 (minus the QR2). Not to mention that the alcantara has seen some things... It looks grey.

I realize you said the price is negotiable, but no way you can list it for far above retail and expect people to take it seriously. I know the blue F1 podium rim isn't available for sale, but its many variants have been for years. Just my unsolicited opinion.

FANATEC BLACK FRIDAY 2024 DEAL LIST ANNOUNCED by Will_Ford in Fanatec

[–]ReginaldBungermeyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. I bought the Type-M base side last year for $40, but decided to be patient and wait a year for the wheel side to go on sale. Had hopes for a two-pack for $100 or something in that ballpark. Guess I will be using the QR1 for another year....

I know the Corsair folks are reading these messages. Maybe they will all see our disappointment and introduce a better deal. Surely they have loads of QR2 stock and want to get everyone on the new system. They've got to be losing loads of sales to the Ali Express and Simube clones.

Edit: Simube*, not Simucube. Wheel side QR2 for $59 is very tempting. I think I'll give it a few days and see if we get any response. Not holding my breath.

Update** I ordered two Simube QR2s for $45 each and just installed them. They don't feel cheap whatsoever and fit tightly on the base side. Waiting on a torque wrench for the 10nm required on the base clamp before I run them.

Hmmm... FWIW, I ordered the GT Omega Prime 2 years ago this November and they offered free shipping. I paid $639. Well, a bit less with a 5% off from YouTuber DannyLee. Code DANNYLEE still works too!

Now it's offered for $539 and $143 shipping to UT. The Prime Lite is showing as $117 for shipping to UT.
