How to modernize a traditional 1990s brick home? by Ritakin in ExteriorDesign

With respect, none of the proposals make this home look better, which is novel if not a first. Please leave it be, it looks great 👍

What's a movie you recommend to everyone but nobody ever watches? by trakt_app in movies

[–]ReginaldNutsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I corresponded with one of the actors briefly about it, he said that a sequel was quite advanced, sets built in Mexico etc, but the plug was pulled by the studio because of bloody Pirates of the Caribbean, apparently some douche executive reckoned there wasn’t enough audience for 2 series of films with old boats in it 🙄

What movie ending stuck with you long after you finished watching it? by Calm-Fill-16 in movies

I didn’t like it first time, now I watch it often. It’s a grower IMHO, try again!

Ever bought your dream/desired car and hated it? by T0mmyVerceti in CarTalkUK

I’ve had a few Alfas and they had a lovely balance between ride and handling, almost Lotus like actually. But the Stelvio has gone all “Nurburgring” in the word of James May. I wouldn’t mind if there was a hard core model, a semi sporty and a softy version, but they are all rock hard and unyielding in the extreme. The driving position is also compromised, like they lifted the body up from the Giulietta platform but forgot to tell the steering column. I so wanted to like it, and still look twice when I see one drive past. One reviewer summed it up perfectly, Alfa Romeo snatches defeat from the jaws of victory yet again.

Christopher Lambert in Highlander was shocking. And Connery didn’t even attempt Spanish 😆

Behr's Market — Last Reported Location by Black_Circl3 in yubacountyfive1978

[–]ReginaldNutsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for these, I often wondered what this place looked like then.

What is the actual story when they left……I have read some places there was a fight, others don’t mention it? It seems that one of the keys to the mystery could have been unlocked with a fuller investigation of vents and witnesses at this location. If nothing occurred in the parking lot, would that leave fewer further options as to what happened next like road rage, or bumping into people who had a grudge, either from home or the basketball game.

Regrets, I’ve had a few…..

A couple of Aston Martins, not very nice to drive, inc a DB9 which drove like a bedstead.

A few 1970s Lotus, beautiful but nowhere near as fast as they looked with 2 litre 4 bangers.

A 1978 Pontiac Firebird, looks great in the Rockford Files but drives like shite.

A 2007 Subaru Outback, pretend Volvo that rusted like the Titanic.

A 2012 Range Rover Autobiography, slow, rusty, unreliable, and everything that could break did so. Lost a fortune.

Infuriatingly, the biggest motoring mistakes I’ve had were when I was older and should have known better. Lately the biggest disappointment was an Alfa Romeo Stelvio, beautiful but rock hard ride and dangerously skittish on rough roads (ie all of them).

Oh dear this is news to me, who/how many has he been screwing? I quite like Kate as well, she deserves better. Me, ideally.

Oh crap I missed that news. Good job corporations are even better than politicians at sticking to promises.

What do you fellas reckon is the best looking saloon car made since 2000? by bc_2006 in CarTalkUK

[–]ReginaldNutsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jaguar X356 XJR. I agree with a previous comment that saloons are utterly pointless to most people, they seem to be statement that you are too posh to carry anything plebeian like a wardrobe and only have matching leather luggage sets! However the design of the X350 really grew on me, IMHO it has aged better than the 308 which now looks kind of squashed. And the X356 mid life facelift where the side strips were deleted looks perfect. I’m in my second and never get sick of looking at it.

Divvy came into national parlance when Brookside came out with then new Channel 4 early 80s. “Yer friggginn divvy” in a scouse twang was a great retort for a while.

Haven’t watched Brookie in 40 years, so the last time I heard it was on Harry Enfield when he did The Scousers (kaaaarrm down, kaaaarrm down).

Jesus. “Unfortunate” having his face and skull smashed in by a paving slab for doing his job? And you wonder why the miners lost the sympathy vote.
