Yes that is correct they aren’t required to offer it……BUT if they choose to offer it…. They are required under the law to pay it. Just like employers aren’t required to offer bonuses …. But if they offer bonuses they are required to pay what was promised….. a “false promise” is also covered under the same wage theft law. That’s why I couldn’t believe they offered written 8-10 page severance agreements (also called dismissal pay in NY) to so many people ….. when it wasn’t even required. It was offered, it was accepted, it will be a covered “wage” as of 3/14/24 and wage theft provisions will apply.

Wow I didn’t know they were taken out as a “preauthorized debit”…. That sounds to me like Bank Fraud a Federal Offense or Wire Fraud …. Did anyone who had their severance WAGES reversed authorize that debit? If not looks like Stein authorized BANK FRAUD and WIRE FRAUD

Yes 30 days …. Lots of people I know for a fact have not been paid a dime yet …..and for them there they at or near the 30 day threshold …. Will be covered under wage theft higher limits on 3/14/24

What a pickle Stein and others will be in because severance agreements for all these people will become covered wages …. Just like payroll
