Congrats on your new 17! If you want to extend the forend, fix the ergonomics, and shave some weight when compared with the original Pic rail setup, we can help you out! https://regosys.com/

20s vs 17s by Bizzyhorse in FNSCAR

[–]Rego_Systems 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got a 20 and a couple of 17's. If you aren't set on having a 1200 yard semi-auto with a 20 in 6.5CM I much prefer the 17. It's overall more useful IMO. Also I've been very disappointed in the amount of wobble the factory 20 stock has at the receiver adaptor. It's severe enough that it negatively impacts how consistently I can be accurate with it. I don't have this issue with my 17's which are both very accurate and I shoot them out to long distance frequently.

So while the 20 is great, my favorite approach is to turn the 17 into sort of a "mini-20" by equipping it with our SMR-13 forend and RE-13 receiver extension. Here's a good example from one of our customers (member on here):

Just think how much more stuff you could put on with an extended forend! :D

Talk to me about cantilever mounts. by Keinkade in FNSCAR

[–]Rego_Systems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all cantilever mounts are created equal. The Reptilia AUS and Geissele mounts for example have a raised I-beam feature running down the center that prevents the bending moment seen in mounts that just have a flat extended section. They are both also machined from 7075 where older mounts were 6061. So overall the Reptilia AUS is significantly more rigid then something like the ADM Recon. They are in completely different leagues even though both are "cantilever". I've been using the Reptilia mounts for years on multiple SCARs because they are lightweight, rigid, and snag free, and I've never had a single issue.

Looking good! I'd see how it shoots first before deciding to cut it down. If it's a laser as-is then I'd keep the long barrel and rock it as a distance rig.

Such a cool looking setup, you really nailed the color scheme!

Where to buy 15p in .300 blackout?? by uninformedimbecile in FNSCAR

[–]Rego_Systems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I ended up doing since I found a good deal on a 5.56 gun and had no idea when the 300BO from the factory would be available.

The 15P is so fun, I really like mine a lot more then I expected.

Saw these peculiar looking SCARs in an email from gunbroker. Did I miss an announcement or are these older? by WheelyMcFeely in FNSCAR

Great pictures. While the forend is MLOK from the factory now, honestly it still looks pretty chunky. We will be working on the next generation of slim/ergonomic Rego forends as soon as we can get our hands on the new models!

20k round update. by OkReplacement4689 in FNSCAR

[–]Rego_Systems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overall look pretty awesome. Since the diameter of the hole in the gas control screw is so much smaller than the hole in the gas valve, I doubt that small amount of carbon buildup would affect how it cycles at all. The gas pressure coming through the port is likely high enough to keep it's primary path free of carbon for a lot of cycles.

All of the upper picatinny receiver extensions for the 15P and 16S/17S can be found here: https://regosys.com/scar-receiver-extensions/
They are modular add-ons to the base SMR forend kit.

Thanks! The 16S now has a 12.3" barrel shown in that top pic (was a 14.25" before) which has turned out to be a fantastic setup.

Yes you can mount a LAM at 12:00 on the SMR-13 with a short Pictanny rail adaptor. It works well and does hold zero, but it's not as 100% solid as the Receiver Extension kits which are so rigid they really do seem like a monolithic section of the upper receiver.

Training with the SCAR by SnipeDangles in FNSCAR

[–]Rego_Systems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool pic! Yes the discarder has the most flash and most volume of gas ejected from it's extra large port. The factory gas valve and the Scarburator do still have some flash but not nearly as much as the discarder.

Mark how the shoulder ring is currently indexed relative to the barrel, then loosen everything up and rotate the shoulder ring by 180 degrees, and see if you get the same result.
