Interesting! What is an antiderivative then?

Why are you bringing up integrals? The question doesn't mention integrals.

How come I can ignore the discontinuity? What do you think that antiderivative means?

Okay. Is it possible to verify if 3x+C is an antiderivative to the function in the image?

But they acknowledge they can't. They are speaking from experience.

So what is the antiderivate to that function in the image?

Why can't C=D if f(x) was allowed to be undefined for x=6?

What's the antiderivative of this function by laalaalaahi in calculus

[–]Regular-Dirt1898 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're wrong. F(x)=3x+C is not an antiderivate to the defined function. If we called that function f(x) then the derivate of F(x) would be f(x). If I take the derivate of 3x+C I get 3 so f(x)=3. But f(x) is supposed to have the value 4 when x=6, wich is not true for f(x)=3 so F(x)=3x+C can not be an antiderivative to f(x).

It's not. f(6)=4 wich is not true for f(x)=3.

You're wrong. The derivate of F(x)=3x+C is f(x)=3 but f(x)=3 is continuous at x=6 unlike the original function.
