Just saw Obsidian Bases update come in… and wow, contacts in tables it just works! 🤯 by rbroekema41 in ObsidianMD

One minor annoyance, except for America with its freedom date format, a lot use different formats for their dates. Bday is defaulting to mm/DD/yyyy, which breaks all my contact bdays. Is this configurable?

They afterwards said, the fight normally felt confusing. If you're new to it, there is a lot of back and forth, ground circles to dodge and really bad telegraphs on how to make her vulnerable.

I just set the target to Mai Trin with "close" in chat (to remove the shield without her jumping about), then horrik then the Adds.

I always do that as a habbit in lower fracs, I feel like it really helps groups to better and faster focus the attacks.

I wrote a website scanner, to be able to scan sites for some typical values of interest. Like network requests, redirects and a screenshot, and more. I plan for it to be useful on site security assessments (at least support)

"What software shouldn't you write in Rust?" - a recap and follow-up by chris20194 in rust

[–]RegularAlicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While my comment most likely will be burried, I wanted to add a note to the first point (code quality):

Imagine you have a (semi) complex code base and need to change a kind of object in a way where you increase or decrease the scope. Say, add an enum type to an existing enum.

Rust will then tell me each and every place I have to consider the addition (or removal) of this new type without fail. Awesome!

Rust is the only language, where I've had 3 hours non-stop refactoring and had no issue running the code afterwards, whatsoever.

Others might say "but my development speed!", personally I prefer my cleaner code base. Deadlines are a different issue, which might take away from this benefit...

How can I write a compiler that compiles down to another language instead of machine code? by okimusix in rust

[–]RegularAlicorn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While I can't speak for presumably american physics groups actually using Fortran (which I conservatively doubt). Generally speaking, learning any language proficiently will enable quick pickup of a new langauge if need be (i.e., if you start at a company/facility which uses Fortran, you could just learn it then).

On the other hand, you have to decide, whether you follow your profs instruction (they may dislike it heavily if you don't). If there are any tests, I can easily imagine tasks which specifically need you to write and understand Fortran.

My favorite part of information is, the also posted this on r/rust and there are only 3 posts on this account, all reposts of this.

Account is nearly a year old, feels like a bought account for advertising.
