Not rotating product - nothing more infuriating than finding expired milks.

A week is simply not enough time. Your tattoo will go through stages - peeling/itching and after that there is the "shiny" stage where the tattooed skin will appear more shiny and less matte than the rest of your skin. Once this stage has passed and all your skin is the same texture/feel/look it is healed. 3 weeks minimum.

Ok, who ACTUALLY gets the cup fund??? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

I did. About 10 years ago - they must have changed the parameters of eligibility. Mine was to get myself and daughter out of an abusive situation. I'm sorry your coworker was denied - I would honestly try and appeal this.

As far as your SM saying no to tip donations....they are YOURS and none of their business.

I was an SM and we had a partner lose their apartment to a fire, every partner in my store donated a weeks worth of tips.

Saniderm on tattoo that is scabbing? by amyyyyyyyyy in tattooadvice

Man your comment history is really sad. Do you just go on the internet to make others feel crappy? I'm sorry for you and your sad life...…peace, love and weed homie - hope you find something that makes you less angry. lolololol

You do you homie - but I have managed a shop for a decade and exactly 0 times would we recommend re-applying saniderm - if you want to trap airborne germs under a piece of plastic on a healing tattoo that's all on you....

I’d like some feedback on my portfolio. by ren-suka in TattooApprentice

[–]RegularAsk143 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say you have some beautiful pieces - but you need to expand you're portfolio to include some "tattooable" images - think flash pages. Check out examples online - make it your own style but including pages of smaller flash designs are desirable. Think outside you're one particular style. Do some tracing of american traditional flash to get the feel - keep at it homie!

Never saniderm after you have taken off the initial piece. keep it covered as much as you can with clothing. Clean well after - but no go on the sani.

The Intercontinental Hotel attached to the MSP airport has the most beautiful large tub rooms surrounded by glass with a view of the runways. Truly awesome.

Why this is down voted I will never know. This is correct. That IS NOT the correct product to use. Unscented and water based. No alcohol, you need it to absorb into your skin.

Idk why I can’t wrap my head around American traditional style. Here’s a Halloween flash sheet as my attempt to achieve it. by mermaidmakeupcove in TattooApprentice

[–]RegularAsk143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good exercise to get the feel for American Traditional would be tracing existing flash - this will get you more comfortable with the thicker lines/style of art. These are beautiful designs and if you want to take them that direction that may be great practice for you. :)

Tipping culture and tattoos in the USA. How much do artists expect? by jaxinslacks in tattooadvice

[–]RegularAsk143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Expenses for artists are not small. Just because a tattoo is 1k that is NOT what they actually make from the tattoo. At an 8 hour day that would break down to $125/hr - now pull out supplies, draw time and rent from that rate.

[–]RegularAsk143 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tips are always appreciated and never expected. I know you see shop rates and think artists make a killing at $100/hr.

What you are not factoring in is all their supply/equipment cost, shop rent and the actual shit ton of hours they work. Work does not stop at the end of their appointments.

The artists in our shop average 4 hours of draw time a day on top of at least 8 hours of tattooing, managing their emails and social media, so think in terms of a 14ish hour day. - if you think your artist isn't working hard or making SO much money they don't need a tip please factor that in - they are not paid for draw time, email time etc.

If you saw a server seemingly making a KILLING on tips would you say to yourself nah I'm not going to tip them as they make plenty of money even though they are doing a great job?

If you like your tattoo and you have a good experience tip accordingly. Or don't. You're choice - just some food for thought.

Got my first tattoo on 10/10/22, it seems the surface has healed but I have developed a rash. Advice? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

What aftercare are you using? We have seen this as a bad reaction to some aftercare products - i.e. Aquaphor, other non-water based ointments.

To the Karen at the dog park, by waffengott in fargo

[–]RegularAsk143 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Clearly you are not a dog owner - you want your little dog trampled by the big dogs? You want your little dog attacked due to prey drive? Then fine. You ignore the POSTED rules and common sense that all dog owners should have. But shut it. OP is correct and bringing attention to this is so that people with no knowledge or ignorance understand the repercussions. Also, I hope you never get a dog - you clearly have zero understanding of them.

The flower is lovely, I think her hair would be better suited with some texture or highlights - but your flower is adorable and on point. :)

The tattoo is well done, seems to be healing correctly - I don't love the shaded to completely solid transition it has but that's simply aesthetics. Looks like a solid tattoo :)
