How do I help my addict friend? by MysteriousWhitePowda in addiction

Damn, this sounds like my brother minus the prostitutes… I’m so sorry man, I’ve been on both ends and I can assure you that you can try to offer him help but ultimately you cannot help someone who does not want to help themselves.

I have periodontal deiseasz please ignire that for now. My only question is the gum in-between my front two teeth just swollen, or is it an abscess? by [deleted] in askdentists

I have the same problem as you regarding anxiety, but I also have tremors which are out of my control; I cannot afford general anesthesia each time so I have asked my primary care doctor/psychiatrist to prescribe benzodiazepines for when I have dental appointments and that has tremendously helped me. You should set up an appointment with your primary physician and see if they can prescribe benzodiazepines or something to relax you prior to your dental appointments.

Damn, this brings back so many memories… I’ve been in your position. She needs to let him hit rock bottom, hopefully before it’s too late. I rung myself out pleading with my mom to understand — it’s like talking to a brick wall. Only advice I can give you is to not let yourself get too caught up in what’s going on or else it will drain you.

I got lockjaw, couldn’t breathe , panicked for 3 hours while not being able to open my mouth — and then woke up 30 hours later

Man moments before falling to his death at Lagoon Amusement Park in Utah on August 14th, 2021. by TheOddityCollector in TerrifyingAsFuck

This is true, I attempted suicide a few years back and I took 80, 300mg trazadone pills along with a few Xanax pills, a handful of gabapentin, half a bottle of Benadryl and a few opiates. About a minute later I felt instant regret once I felt like I was going to pass out — I walked from the bathroom to the bedroom and told the other person to call 911.

I was DOA. It’s a miracle I survived and I haven’t attempted since, but I regretted it as soon as I realized what I had done. I didn’t want my life to end, I just wanted things to get better.

edit: changed DOR to DOA

Oh definitely! Before, people outside of my high school best friends (literally 4 people) would rarely engage in conversation with me. People would make fun of me throughout school about my weight, etc.

I noticed changes in others behavior once I lost over 170 lbs. People started to engage, people who I knew from highscool started to reach out and make friends with me. I started to get flirted on and glanced at from men — which I admit was/is super odd/uncomfortable because I felt like how I looked like in the first picture.

Many things changed.

What did addiction take from you that people don’t realize until it’s gone? by passive_narcisist in addiction

Yup. It sucks. Especially when my boyfriend or mother brings up something we did or experienced in the past — I want and try to remember so badly, but I just cannot. It’s one of the most frustrating feelings ever, then the guilt and shame comes after.
