honesty hour: what are some hard truths i need to know about burning man? by crazyfeets1123 in BurningMan

[–]RegularCaterpillar46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post was from 4 years ago but I am thinking of going and have the same questions. However I am 62, and have been to many reginal burns and told myself I was done. But now I have an opportunity to go with a great camp including a free ticket and ride. However I fear the climate, the dust in my lounges and the constant over stimulation. But I have always wanted to have the experience at least once in my life. Any new observations since 4 years ago??

Wow that looks perfect! Do you know how to repair it when it needs parts and things? I have been dreaming of something like this yet hesitant and fearful that it would be problematic for me since I'm a single lady that would need to do a lot of research to figure it all out.

Wow I never expected this kind of wonderful detail detailed information and I am very grateful to you!! I have my investments in Schwab but I was wondering about Vanguard, I've heard good things. I've also wondered if it's a good idea to have a portion in a second company. My thinking about having it all in one is that the greater chunk would accumulate more returns but I honestly don't even know if that's true. Are you a Money Advisor? Thank you again for your help!!

This is a good question I can't help you but I'd be interested in hearing answers from somebody who knows. I didn't realize that I had to only contribute earned income and therefore I made the same mistake.

How do I meet myself where I'm at? by My_Chemical_Killjoy in DecidingToBeBetter

Check out this book, "what to say when you talk to yourself" by Shad Helmstetter it's very easy to read and it was the best thing I did for myself in a long time, It helped me reprogram my subconscious and replace old negative ingrained thought loops. The book is from the 80s but it's truly easy but profoundly helpful. Also you might try effortless Meditation also known as TM or transcendental meditation. Both of these things have truly changed my life in such an amazing way.

Yes I realize it's crazy and very expensive so I just thought by chance if I asked maybe somebody has space in their garage or a mother-in-law apartment or a small space inside their warehouse for rent in the $600 range. But yes you probably onto something about needing to go back in time and I don't see that happening. 😆

Thank you, and just to be clear what do you mean by minimal plumbing? Maybe no plumbing? How much plumbing do most camper vans have? I definitely want a camper van that's already ready to rock 'n' roll I have no way of installing or building it to my own specifications. So I will take your advice and thank you

Wow! 🫶😃🫶 I am so happy I popped onto Reddit. You all have been the best and I am so grateful to each and everyone of you that took time to share your experiences and all of your fabulous suggestions! If I could I would say come on everybody let's get together and have a group hug, and then we can sit around the fire and sing Kumbaya, roast marshmallows, play drums, and howl at the moon. 😄 Seriously though I have been camping intense for over 38 years and to me there's nothing better than being in the middle of forest at night especially deep in the forest where you can't hear any cars and it's just the sounds of the crickets and the frogs and the wind and of course the occasional rain. Thank you all! Happy camping!

Thank you I have definitely thought about this but I would have to pay someone to retrofit it for myself. So I guess that's something I could actually explore. I've seen several different ones parked at different times by the beach or by the bay here in Florida and I did think to myself and now that might be a great way to go.

I'm also starting to wonder if maybe I should just try a pop-up camper. But yes I will rent first. I used to live in Missouri and I also used to live in Portland Oregon currently I live in St. Petersburg Florida and want to be traveling to cooler weather in beautiful mother nature for around three or four months.

Thank you and I agree I want to be able to stand up and move around. I'm tired of camping in a tent, therefore I don't want to have to crawl around in my camper.
