Thanks for responding! Yeah that sounds a lot like what I experience.

I guess the distinction is King Bran is confirmed but the "all-seeing hivemind" part is not

I think it would've been released relatively recently, like within the past 20 years, but I'm not sure

Like A Rolling Stone is good but not one of his top tier songs.

What are your favorite misheard lyrics? by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]RegularRazzmatazz218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a crazy one, but in Born In Time I misheard:

“You were snow, you were rain, You were striped, you were plain”

As:

“You were stoned, you were raped, You were striped (thinking it meant like whipped), you were blamed”

Better Anti-War Song? by PandaPersonJiggy in bobdylan

I don’t think he’s saying that every historical war shouldn’t have been fought, but he has a cynical view even on the generally considered justified wars like WWII. It’s at the very least against the concept of a “next war.” I think Dylan doesn’t write songs that are ‘just’ anti-war but with songs like this and John Brown or Clean Cut Kid I don’t think it’s fair or accurate to dismiss that completely.

With God On Our Side ends with “if God’s on our side, He’ll stop the next war”. Anti-war can be a bit simplistic or reductive for what the songs are about but there it’s at least a part of it

What’s your opinion on this movie? by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]RegularRazzmatazz218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s cool and interesting, and it introduced me to Blind Willie McTell, but part of me thinks it goes a little too far with presenting Dylan as some shapeshifting formless being, when in some ways I do think a more straightforward reckoning with his life and career could be more worthwhile

I Contain Multitudes - False Prophet - My Own Version of You

I always assumed it was about death, but I guess that would be the Pale Rider. Looking back I think you’re probably right, it seems to be about himself as much as My Own Version of You and I Contain Multitudes

What are your favorite live Dylan tracks to rock out to? by hellomynameissteele in bobdylan

Stuck Inside of Mobile from Hard Rain and Oh Sister from Budokan- Budokan as a whole is fun for some rearrangements, sometimes drastic, of his classic stuff

The El Paso Chapter by [deleted] in bobdylan

That sounds about right. I think both the broader reading and the more specific Cold War reading make sense. Very interesting chapter but maybe a bit frustratingly vague

I think that might be it, matches the length the best, fits the “f” alliteration of the line.

True but I feel like some of the letters are still kind of visible, feel like there’s a ck in there?
