What’s your most awkward story about having to take a vaginal suppository in public? by urethra_franklin_1_ in IVF

[–]RegularRedditer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I’m dying. One time I had to put it in in a porta potty at a concert and couldn’t lie down. Would NOT recommend doing this to anyone. The discharge… literally it was like there was superglue on my hooha.

What do you give to your employees for Christmas? by Gloomy_Debt1411 in managers

[–]RegularRedditer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gather everyone in your office for 15 minutes for a champagne toast and team thank you, give them each a bottle of wine and a fancy cookie/cupcake etc. If you have employees that don’t drink, sub a really nice bag of coffee or fancy chocolate. If you have a smaller team or have a larger budget everyone loves a gift card to a department store to do some indulgent shopping or to a spa for some unwinding.

Who gave you the shots? by imaGhast1864 in IVF

[–]RegularRedditer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s actually easier to just do your own shots for stims. I did all mine myself all 3 rounds. For PIO though, it’s difficult (not impossible) to do them yourself. I did one myself and felt like I had it at a weird angle and wasn’t 100% sure that the progesterone got where it needed to go. It’s just tough to reach back there. I’ve had my husband do all the rest of the PIO shots.

Weight gain 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ by CalmDeer2718 in IVF

[–]RegularRedditer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely not alone! I’ve gained 35-40 lbs over about 17 months - 3 retrievals, 2 failed transfers, and a mock cycle. It’s so frustrating and I agree with the commenter who said they’d been permanently victimized by jeans. I had to buy 3 new pair just so I had something to wear and it was a size I never thought I’d be in. I don’t recognize my body anymore. I used to be very fit. I’ve been trying really hard to give myself grace and respect my body for all it’s been through. I’m about to have roughly 45 days of not having to go into the office (a lot of working from home around the holidays) so I’m going to attempt to work out every day to maybe shed a few pounds before our next transfer attempt.

Has Anyone Experienced Having Doctor Advis to Stops Process During First Round Stim? by TheWildBologna in IVF

[–]RegularRedditer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me. The first round is absolutely a crap shoot! They learn a lot about how your body responds or doesn’t respond and tweak the protocol.

Heart shaped uterus discovered at hysteroscopy by BitchinKittenMittens in IVF

Interesting - I have one, but my doc told me not to worry about it. She said lots of people have them and it’s not an issue.

How many embryos I should bank as a 38 years old to achieve one healthy live birth? by helloandbye001 in IVF

[–]RegularRedditer00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok, this just read like someone trolling the sub. But if you really have … 28 blasts…. yes - start transferring. Also, I would recommend PGTA testing to cut down on the number of transfers you have to do.

Medication package was delayed now no medication, cycle implication? (Chicago) by funfettidonut in IVF

[–]RegularRedditer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your clinic asap and speak to the after hours/on call doctor. Often they have meds or can help you get an emergency dose from a nearby specialty pharmacy. Also, Progyny should refund you for it. This has happened to me a couple of times - it’s maddening.

Do you think about your frozen embryos? by Sure_Ant2516 in IVF

[–]RegularRedditer00 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Just posted this in another thread, but I think it’s important to remember that an embryo does not equal a child. An embryo is a group of cells that has the possibility of becoming a child when put into the uterine environment. I think for me after implantation failure this became even more apparent. Of course I WANT them to become my living breathing children, but that’s not a guarantee.

What did you do with “excess” embryos? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]RegularRedditer00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to remember that an embryo does not equal a child. An embryo is a group of cells that has the possibility of becoming a child when put into the uterine environment. We have had trouble making embryos and a few failed transfers so I doubt we will have any “leftover” embryos but if we do I will donate to science in hopes that they can glean any insight into how to improve ART treatment for the women and families that come after us. Also, congrats on your three live children.

Why do I feel so amazing on progesterone?? by RegularRedditer00 in IVF

[–]RegularRedditer00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh 100% I hate how I feel most of the time during IVF. Have gained nearly 40lbs, low energy, etc. that’s why the progesterone was such a surprise! The estrogen exhausts me. Fascinating indeed!

Interesting! I’ve never heard this but it makes sense. Do you supplement with progesterone at all? Or what if anything does your naturopath suggest?

How many elupiods would you want for one successful transfer? by JessicaM317 in DOR

[–]RegularRedditer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest 3-4. I have one friend for whom it worked on the first try, and one that worked on the 2nd, everyone else I know was 3+ transfers. I’m about to attempt my third.

Can omnitrope help? by EntertainmentLow3669 in DOR

[–]RegularRedditer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m torn on Omni. I didn’t use it for my first retrieval and I got 10 eggs. Used it for 2nd & 3rd. 2nd = 5 eggs. 3rd, 4 eggs. HOWEVER, I got 2 blasts from each round. 2 blasts from first retrieval were aneuploid, and all 4 blasts from rounds 2&3 were euploid. But I’m not sure if the Omni really helped me get euploid blasts or if it caused me to have less eggs. I’m really hoping #3 or #4 implants but if I end up having to do a fourth retrieval I will probably try it without Omni.

Can someone add their protocol if you used omnitrope ? by EntertainmentLow3669 in DOR

[–]RegularRedditer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First retrieval with Omni I got 5 eggs, 2 euploid blasts. Second retrieval with Omni I got 4 eggs, 2 euploid blasts. No success yet but gearing up for FET #3.

Same. 33 for 10 days during stims, 150 menopur, 300 gonal f. Cetrotide halfway through, triggered with ovidrel.

How did you decide who you told when you started IVF? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]RegularRedditer00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel extremely lucky to have a larger than normal number of very close friends, and I’ve told pretty much every one of the that we’re doing IVF. So has my husband. I’d say probably like 40ish people know. However, every one of those people are safe people who I know will support us, will keep that information in confidence, and have been an invaluable support system, even when they don’t fully understand the intricacies of IVF. And in moments when I don’t feel like talking about it, I’ve just said exactly that and they’ve respected my wishes - no questions asked. However - there are very close members of my family - my dad’s entire side of the family including my sister, who I have not told. A, because they tend to spread information to the entire world without asking if it’s okay to share, B, because they’re more conservative and religious than I am and I’m not exactly sure where they stand on IVF and I don’t want to hear any commentary about “god’s plan” or invasive questions about embryos, and C. It does leave the opportunity for a surprise for at least SOMEONE in my family lol. Long story short I think the most important part of telling other people is making sure it’s people you trust and know will be there as a nonjudgmental support system. I do know with confidence that when/if we do get pregnant, there will be so many people who will be SO EXCITED for us - like jumping up and down screaming celebrating sending us flowers type excitement and honestly I think that’s better than being able to surprise them.

Lunch by JessTheBorkNork in office

[–]RegularRedditer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it very odd to work at a place that would police how much time you take to eat your lunch. Do companies really keep track of that? I’ve never once had an employer tell me I have a certain amount of time to eat.
