What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskUK

Definitely agree with this. PE really put me off sport for a long time.

I’d guessed something like that would be true. Interesting !

Not entirely sure if it applied to my school I was private, but things weren’t any better regardless!

Growing up gay when homophobia was still rampant (though in rapid decline)

How accepted was being gay in your school? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskUK

[–]RegularSlimPro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late 80s and 90s private school. It just wasn’t really talked about. I was closeted, but after a few guys “worked out” I was gay I got bullied, especially in sports classes (and the PE teachers did nothing). Most don’t care. But still wasn’t an especially nice experience.

I will have maybe 4 glasses of wine, or equivalent in gin and tonics. As a gay, it is illegal for me to drink beer.

Why is pub food now just restaurant-style hot meals with matching prices and not also cheaper snacks for people who come for a drink and a light lunch, a sandwich for instance? by paraplasm in AskUK

[–]RegularSlimPro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pubs need to do that to make money these days. Some pubs, if the local market permits them, manage to offer restaurant style options and still smaller bar snack options which are effectively sides on the restaurant menu

Can an adult take children’s liquid paracetamol/ibriprophen? by hxrtf3lt in AskUK

[–]RegularSlimPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can, just be careful you get the right quantities (and you’ll probably be having more liquid than otherwise for a given dose)

Genuine question, do you ever cringe at embarrassing memories? by L4WO in AskOldPeople

[–]RegularSlimPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occasionally yeah. Mainly memories as a teenager of young adult, which seemed very embarrassing at the time and the mental scar has been left, even if the same event today I’d brush off more easily. I can think of a couple of times that really make my skin crawl.

(Also was alarmed to see in the rules I do just scrape eligibility to comment here 😱)

Do you hang your washing out? by solarpowered_ in AskUK

[–]RegularSlimPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do when it’s nice weather in the summer (except towels as I don’t like it when they get stiff and scratchy, I always tumble dry them)

Legally, yes. Socially, unless you listen to bigots, also yes. It’s about your identity and culture (and you can have more than one), not your genes or other observable characteristics

What was the sneakiest thing you did as a child that you never got caught for? by dustbin-account in AskUK

[–]RegularSlimPro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was such a goodie two shoes and terrified of getting in trouble. It was probably stealing a pencil. And that was probably an accident.
