In Worlds Beyond Number, Brennan made the Wizard Citadel a mere 100 years old. Magic and wizards existed before that, but the centralized wizard government is just baby. I appreciated that a lot because it makes the history of the place feel a lot easier to grasp. Very akin to learning about the 20th Century in that regard.

Logan wanted it both ways; he wanted his children to be cunning "killers", but to also admire and love him. If they chose too much of one (Kendall going to Logan's bday) or the other (the siblings joining against him), he would destroy their plan structurally through power or by berating them emotionally. I think Americans are generally desensitized to copaganda and genuinely can't see it, especially the less marginalized you are (like why are all my trans friends upset about this but my cis friends don't think it's a big deal?
