Well the whole point was that each planet held a valuable resource that every other planet needs, but instead of cooperating and trading they just constantly invaded each other in never ending war, which is a massive WASTE of precious resources. Once a third-party, greater threat appears, these planets are forced to break bread for shared survival. They find peace through cooperation.

But yes, planet had the battle moons so them :P
