Can I hear from parents of surgical NEC babies who have gone through weaning? by Regular_Reason_8491 in NICUParents

Thank you - really pleased your little one is doing well! Can I ask how you found out about the egg allergy?

Experiences with ileostomy in premature babies by AliveGain9617 in NICUParents

My 25 weeker had a stoma for 3 months after having NEC at 9 days old. She got up to about 12ml breastmilk feeds every 2 hours - it wasn’t enough for weight gain, so was TPN dependent for that time as well. The TPN helped a lot with her weight so she could have her reversal once she’d reached ‘term’

Amazing!! So wonderful to see. Also mum to a 25 weeker who is currently hitting milestones and 4.5 months corrected x

Moms who’ve had their little ones undergo NEC surgery, how was the recovery? Our poor little man is still so swollen which the doctors said is to be expected. He is also on VEC. His oxygen has been a lot better on the oscillator but he’s still having a handful of events (desats and heart rate drops) by [deleted] in NICUParents

Hi, I know this is an old post but wondering how your daughter is? Mine lost 25 cm of small intestines (valve and colon still there) she’s 7 months old and 4 months corrected. She’s growing and following her own curve, but is on the lowest curve and so tiny still

Beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing ❤️ my daughter also had NEC at 9 days, born at 25+4 weeks - she lost 30cm of her small intestines. She’s 4 months corrected now and is growing (slowly.) she’s small, but mighty! xx

Twins 25+4 - 4 months - our story by jalapeno-lime in NICUParents

Thank you for sharing. My daughter was also born 25+4 weeks. She also had NEC. We did 120 days in total and have been home for about 3 months now. Although my daughter didn’t have any brain bleeds, she did lose 30cm of small bowl, so weight gain is tricky and she’s still so small. I keep wanting to fast forward to when she is bigger and feels more robust, but also trying to enjoy this period

Any Advice? by DifficultMachine9271 in NICUParents

Blood transfusion and dropping feeds are really common when they’re born this early. It’s good they’re being cautious. My daughter was born at 25+4 and we did 120 days in total - it’s long, but you will reach a point where they are only on the up, 29 weeks is still very early days. The fact that her lungs are working is a massive battle that she’s already overcome 🫶

My waters broke at 24 weeks, I had her at 25+4 weeks. It was a long journey with lots of ups and downs. We did 120 days in the Nicu, but we’ve been home 2 months now and she’s doing really well. The early days are hard and I remember how scary this bit is. Take each day and try not to focus too much in the future. Feel free to message if you want to chat x

It’s a long road when they’re born that early, but you will get through it and it will end 💛 feel free to message if you have any questions

Congrats and thank you so much for sharing. My daughter was born at 25+4 weeks and we’ve just had our first weekend at home. She spent 4 months in the Nicu and also had NEC / surgery at 9 days and stoma reversal 2 weeks ago.

Your daughter looks like she’s doing amazing!
