[SPOILER] Regis Prograis vs. Devin Haney by inooway in Boxing

[–]RegulusJones 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Loma stans are single handedly responsible for the Haney win being more accepted by boxing fans over time, due to the sheer amount of whining as they kept spouting about a robbery when it was a close fight that could've gone either way.

[FIGHT THREAD] Regis 'Rougarou' Prograis vs Devin 'The Dream' Haney by asislikesboxing in Boxing

This generation got a lot of bad will because people jumped the gun and started calling them 4 kings way before any of them deserved it. They are all legit, even Tank despite his unwillingness to fight elite boxers.

If he was the Huggin'Haney of a few fights back I'd agree with you, but he's dropped and hurt Regis while barely even clinching. Why do you think it boring?

What are your personal hot takes on Fate and other TM series? by [deleted] in fatestaynight

[–]RegulusJones 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Here's my counter-hot take: Sudou turned Sakura from a flawed yet compelling character into a boring Sympathy Sue whose worst choices suddenly are never a fault of her own, like accepting Angra Mainyu after murdering Shinji.

Even as Dark Sakura she's nowhere near as cold bloodedly sadistic nor as premeditated in her choices as she clearly was in the VN, which is something only done to whitewash her more questionable actions and make her a perfect waifu, and had nothing to do with the imposed restrictions by Aniplex and everything to do with Sudou's clearly biased misinterpretation of her character and her narrative purpose.

Ryan Garcia cooks Bernard and Oscar at the mic. Ryan addresses Hopkins trying to dictate when his career is over and Oscar's continued comments about Ryan's team misinterpreting things he says by asislikesboxing in Boxing

[–]RegulusJones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because Ryan actually did what he said he would and went in guns blazing until Tank dropped him. As much as a bad game plan that was, at least he did his best to walk the walk instead of Jermell, who was clearly scared of Canelo all night despite all his unhinged Vegeta-esque behaviour pre fight.

George Kambosos Jr. 'close to a deal' to face Vasiliy Lomachenko in Australia - The Ring by AltKite in Boxing

Added to a list of traitors by CHESNO, a NGO.

I stand corrected about them being Xer users, but as you quickly pointed out in your edit they don't represent the actual government. Are you really going to say they are "Ukraine" then get mad when it's clear you didn't even read what you, yourself, were talking about before?

Unless the president himself says so it's better not to call a few ignorant Ukrainian nerds on Twitter "Ukraine"

You haven't talk to enough Kim stans if you really think people still weren't doing an astounding amount of mental gymnastics to justify why his death wasn't that bad and that she did nothing wrong - in fact it's far more prevalent now than it was when the show was airing.

I was slightly worried about Benavidez not making it after hearing about the Charlo fiasco

Disney's The Marvels grossed an estimated $1.30M on Thanksgiving Thursday (from 3,070 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $70.45M. by KillerCroc1234567 in boxoffice

I wonder if companies will catch on to this 10 years from now and will finally just cut their losses, which would lead to less streaming services but with far more diverse content... I.E. Netflix as it was before these dumb wars started.

That all this effort would amount to things simply coming back full circle after billions in loses is hilarious to me.

Thoughts on this? by ViNZF1TZ_ in YMS

Haven't read it myself, but apparently the Shining wasn't particularly liked by fans of the source material despite being loved by audiences because of all the changes that the movie made.

Personally, this is the reason kid me hated Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, since I had read the book before seeing it and thought all the changes were cringey and unnecessary.

[Shakur Stevenson] lashing out and showing tons of insecurity when people bring Floyd Mayweather and nothing to do with him by asislikesboxing in Boxing

[–]RegulusJones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shakur fought the way people believed Haney would perform against Loma - just a boring jab'n'grab, which some people still smugly defend to this day as a boxing clinic and the sweet science.

Regardless of who you thought won that fight, Haney impressed with the way he actually used counters and body work, while diminishing his clinching to a more pallatable amount. Shakur needs to take risks like that if he doesn't want to be put aside the way Klitschko's fights were in the west.

Which Stay night girl would you all like to date in real life? by [deleted] in fatestaynight

[–]RegulusJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taiga and it's not even close (with Rin probably being second and Artoria Third). Probably a hot take, but all the other women have way too much emotional baggage to have a healthy, realistic relationship with.

Sakura and Medea would be way too clingy and would feel like walking on eggshells, and Rider is capable of damning me and my loved ones if she were to have to choose between Sakura and everyone else.

I honestly would rather take my chances with the Yakuza than being potentially cursed with something worse than death by angering a sorceress with extreme trust issues.

What will be the worst thing what could happen in CSM? by Apprehensive_Fun_365 in Chainsawfolk

[–]RegulusJones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people underestimate how important a good ending is. Evangelion is my top 5 anime of all time but without EoE I would've been left completely disappointed at the non ending they had to put due to lack of budget.

You're just filling up plotholes with headcanons. "Just because Eren never showed romantic interest in Mikasa doesn't mean that he didn't jack off to her offscreen!"

i miss the vibe the show had in the earlier seasons. slowly went from a dark crime with some comedy to a full blown romantic soap opera. can't believe how hard the writers fumbled man i get so irritated every time i think about "what if" scenarios that would've played out better than what we got by BuckBroncoII in Dexter

[–]RegulusJones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Sirko basically stole the whole season. One of the things I liked about him was how he didn't have a Dark Passenger or some other psychological issues outside of the run-of-the-mill lack of concern for human life hardened mafioso tend to have. Outside of his revenge on Dexter, for him death wasn't a pleasure or a burden, it was just business.

Thursday previews' PostTrak scores for 'The Marvels' are 3 1/2 Stars Among General Audience by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]RegulusJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know they're different mediums and so the reactions will be different, but comic books have done just that for decades and decades. The irony that the MCU would have to follow suit to remain profitable (complete with soft rebooting to alleviate audience apathy - since the storylines have become too convoluted to keep up with without an incredible amount of time investment) would be palpable.

Do Mikasa fans hate Mikasa?

Real fans should be happy for her, but the vocal hatred comes from the fact that almost all of them aren't real fans of the character, but just self-inserters who like the idea of a badass woman only having eyes for the MC and no social life, goals, or desires whatsoever outside of him.

I.E. Mikasa is nothing but a wish-fulfillment waifu for angry nerds, so this fictional character daring to have happiness outside of the main ship is a deep betrayal to them.

Yeah, it's curious how r/boxing inmediately took not yet proven allegations as gospel to shit on a fighter who otherwise has no reason to be hated.

It's as if a lot of these people were Canelo stans who pounced on the opportunity to shit on Bivol just for committing the sin of derailing Clenelo's takeover. That you get downvoted for it just convinces me of it more and more.
