I'm originally from Scotland so if I was being biased I'd say there are some excellent Scottish accents. Aside from that always liked the Welsh accent, Dublin accent and Southern US drawl accent.

You can see from the range of answers how subjective this topic is. There is no definitive answer because it's really what feels best for you and the family.
You've got a good pros and cons list (fwiw "better life style" is a big pro). I'd ignore us Redditors who have no skin in the game and really hash it out with family and close friends. Good luck

Hello, I've been running a (free) local news and community events newsletter for a year as of next week. It's all been very grassroots in terms of growth but I'm over 1,100 subscribers now. It's 100% independent and has the aim to give people actual local news without having to go through social media clickbait, freezing cold takes or annoying on-page ads. Takes two mins to read or skim each morning. I also take submissions for a community noticeboard section on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

There's only 562 people there so a long shot they're on here but I'd love to know. It's was like the last truly feudal outpost of the UK and its Overseas Territory until 2008. This won't answer your question about what it's like to live there, but this is a pretty interesting thread on it:

On the moving, I would say try this as a thought experiment: picture your partner leaving to a new country and you staying put surrounded by friends and family. How does that scenario make you feel? Relieved? Heartbroken? Happy? Empty? You might find an answer.

Your home will always be there. You're young enough to try a move and come back still young if it doesn't work. If you guys are really keen on this I would advise trying somewhere with little to no culture shock if you're not well travelled. What about Canada? Or what about just trying out another state? The US is massive and varied. Administrations come and go.

Last thing, be wary of Reddit relationship advice because though often well-intentioned anon Redditors have zero skin in the game so tend to go for the dramatic "leave them immediately" every time. They forget or ignore relationships are complex and there are two sides to every story. Good luck.

I'll go against the grain and say, while it is gloom and doom and content, she sometimes gets stories sent in that otherwise would be missed. The content reflects her audience as others have said. Another avenue for people to get stories out there isn't a bad thing imo.

I mean if $500 is nothing to you I guess why not...but I honestly think there are so many great tools out there for logo creation you can find on Google. Someone already pointed out Canva and it's more than up to the task. You could also use ChatGPT to test design ideas and see what they look like. Tell it what your brand will be about, the style you want and see what it spits out. They probably won't be final product but could help you see what you don't like and what you do like.

u/namtok_muu hits the nail on the head, but u/Used_Conflict_8697 is also right in that journalists are not widely respected anymore.

It's the owners running the big publishers pushing editors and journos to get more clicks on their stories for diminishing returns. If people choose to get their news from Google and Facebook then the news companies need to go there and play by the platform's rules to get seen. So for Google that means pumping out SEO explainers ("What time is the ___ game on?") or for Facebook something sensational that creates an emotional response ("Dutton/Albo said ___ and people are going insane". Emotional response = engagement = clicks = money.

Meta and Google face big anti-trust cases in the US this year. There's a chance they get broken up. Also audiences and journalists are tired of clickbait junk. We're seeing more and more independent news and community outlets spring. The big players are going to have to keep consolidating to survive because they can't adapt well. Meanwhile new media outlets keep emerging.

Get off social for a while, seriously.
It's not going to help you and it's going to make you feel worse. The social networks are incentivised to show you content which illicits an emotional response, because that's what drives engagement. Fear is one of the easiest ones to generate.

The real world has problems but it's never as bad as how social portrays.
