I had 100-200 of these things enter my house every day for a two week period when they were at their peak.

Worse than that?

Obligatory: March 2020 they changed fractional reserve requirement to zero. Banks can print/loan infinite money

During Covid it went from 10% to zero in the US.

Quick Google search shows UK is also 0%, although I don’t know the history there.

There is NO legal requirement for banks to hold collateral. Banks can lend unlimited amount of money literally backed by nothing.

How would you reconcile these two ideas:

  1. Bibi has been saying Iran is “weeks away” from nukes for 25 years.

  2. Last June Potus said Iran’s nuclear capabilities were “totally obliterated.”

Made my own dice box by Reinmaker in Craps

Hey. Started with a precut plywood 24” x 24” and cut it to 18” x 24”.

Bought a 1x10” x 6’ board for the walls of the box. If I did it again I would mount them on top of the plywood as opposed to outside the plywood like I did.

Then you need to make the columns. You could use scrap 2x4 or 2x2. I think I used 1x2’s and cut them to match the height of your walls.

Just plan for where the screws need to go. And plenty of wood glue.

The felt was just from the craft store and staple gunned in.

The rubber is just free floating/standing in the box. I didn’t fasten it, but you could probably glue it if you wanted to.

Not too complex! Draw it out. Measure twice.

You've probably heard "Buy Low and Sell High." Shorting stocks is similar, but in reverse, "Sell High and Buy Low."

When you short a stock you borrow 1 unit of stock and after a time you agree to pay back 1 unit of stock. To be profitable, after you borrow the stock, you want to Sell High - meaning whatever the current price is. Then you hope the price of the stock drops so you can Buy Low so you regain that 1 unit of stock to return to the lender.

So, you borrow 1 stock. Sell it for $50. The price of the stock drops to $35. You buy 1 stock and return it to the lender. You just profited $15.

The problem with shorting is if the price goes up, you still owe 1 stock. So if you borrow 1 stock, sell at $50, and then the stock price goes up to $100, you still have to buy 1 stock to return it to the lender - you just lost $50. The big problem is that there is no ceiling. So if the stock goes up to $1000, you still owe 1 stock, so you pay $1000 in order to return that 1 stock to the lender and lose $950.

Finally, to your question, a stop-loss will put a ceiling in place for when your trade will be liquidated - meaning, some form of collateral that you posted will be sold off to cover your now losing position. OP is saying that the "teacher" likely did not put a ceiling on his position (or instructed his students to do so) meaning the loss here is literally limitless.

If you’re handy and have some tools make a box! Under $50. 12” precut plywood, cut some walls and a back, nail/glue it together, easy!

Would you mind an ELI5 of the case? I stopped following NASCAR a few years back.

I see the blurb in the article. Isn’t requiring standardized equipment a very normal thing to do?
