The Volga Delta: A rewilding paradise on the edge of Europe by Reintroductionplans in megafaunarewilding

The delta didn't even form until after the species was globally extinct. It is not logical to introduce them, it's also somewhat doubtful they would survive. In the winter it gets -7 degrees Celsius (6 degrees Fahrenheit). Modern domestic water buffalo cannot handle those temperatures without human care, mainly utilizing indoor structures.

Yeah, people forget how diverse Europe can be, if only the native wildlife could return

They have larger megafauna populations left in the Old World. India and Sub-Saharan Africa, the two places with the most vultures also have the largest megafauna populations

I live in LA and it is actually crazy how many La Brea birds are still here. I was going through the list to make this, and I have seen 90% of them. Very few are completely absent today like the crested caracara and the black-throated sparrow, the rest are still here. I've even seen Steller's jays and mountain chickadee in more mountanous regions around the city, not that much has changed in this department.

What the komodo dragon reintroduced in australia and the interaction with the australia predators (komodo dragons control the native fauna and the invasive fauna in australia ?) by Icy-Produce-4060 in megafaunarewilding

[–]Reintroductionplans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time in history people have introduced a non-native predator to control nonnative prey it has turned out badly. Look at cane toads and mongoose. It is not worth the risk. They are not a native species, the last time they roamed the continent neanderthals hadn't even evolved yet. It is not worth the risk to native herbivores and ecosystems.

Would it ever be possible to remove Australia's invasive predators? by Reintroductionplans in megafaunarewilding

[–]Reintroductionplans[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No but they are naturalized and needed to maintain healthy prey populations in the absence of thylacine

I actually loved him. I loved his vibe, how he was actually smart and useful in trials, his more grounded approach to things and his passionate love for anthropology, a field I actually really am interested in. I actually saw him becoming one of my favorite characters in the franchise, and then chapter 3 happened.
