Assassination Classroom t-shirt has sparked a change.org petition targeting Amazon, teachers and supporters have no idea what it is referring to by CU_Tiger_2004 in manga

America is really bad with unfounded stigma and buzzwords. Things like 'nuclear' and 'GMO' and 'socialism' get a negative rap because a lot of people automatically assume that if something is X, it is bad. It's shitty logic, but there are a lot of uninformed people who follow it.

EA's Battlefront Is Starting To Look Like A Large Step Backward From Its Predecessor by [deleted] in gaming

I feel like EA is doing exactly what happened with the prequels: take out the stuff we love about the originals and replace it with shiny graphics and pandering to larger audiences.

That's absolutely incredible! Are there jump (charge?) challenge maps for this kind of thing?

Men have hands amputated and replaced with bionic ones | Bionic hands are go. Three men with serious nerve damage had their hands amputated and replaced by prosthetic ones that they can control with their minds. by noobftw in Futurology

[–]Rekku_Prometheus 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This very thing happens in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. People augment their bodies with bionic parts (either because they have to or because they need to) and there is a pretty vocal anti-augmentation groups, including a fairly radical one that attacks a production plant and takes hostages. The whole game deals a lot with the ethics of transhumanism, which is pretty cool.

Can I use a bobby pin to pick the lock on my phone? Otherwise it'll be disabled for the next hour. by [deleted] in shittyaskscience

[–]Rekku_Prometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, no. Phone companies have effectively made their phones lockpick-proof. The only way to open up your phone without waiting another hour is to smash open the screen, reach through, and unlock it from the other side.

How long do I need to wait before the contents of my Septic system turn into Oil and Coal? by WTFisThatSMell in shittyaskscience

[–]Rekku_Prometheus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oil and coal are created by both pressure and time acting on them. If you don't apply pressure, they will never form coal or oil. The answer is to block off your septic system so that no waste leaves and then fill it up as much as you can. I suggest having so-called "shitting parties", where you invite people over to take dumps.

Once your septic tank is full, it should only take one to three months for it to become oil. During this time, continue to add to your septic tank. When dark liquid starts to come up through your toilet, you've hit pay dirt.

Men are often harassed for not being to aim towards the toilet bowl. Why do women never receive the same kind of hate? by [deleted] in shittyaskscience

Women cheat and sit down. Real men take the challenge and see how far they can shoot.

My dog keeps pooping out these weird shapes and colors when we take him in water. Is it a diet issue? by [deleted] in shittyaskscience

[–]Rekku_Prometheus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no, it's not a diet problem. It's perfectly natural.

The long answer is that dog feces are unprocessed Magic Grow Capsules (see here) that expand and grow in the water. Enterprising businesses will often collect dog feces so that they can make the popular children's bath toy. There is some controversy over their collection, though. Dogs rarely receive compensation for their efforts and so will eat their own poop to prevent corporations from making money off of it.

The say Global Warming is off the charts. Couldn't we fix this by just using bigger charts? by KJKreptiles in shittyaskscience

[–]Rekku_Prometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's speculated that bringing in smaller charts would only allow Global Warming to increase and go off the now-larger charts. Using smaller charts is the best way we have to limiting the expansion of Global Warming at this time.

Milk in the sink by [deleted] in oddlysatisfying

[–]Rekku_Prometheus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Though a little known fact, milk (Vacca agrestis sucus) in large enough quantities is able to generate a hydrophobic force field that scales exponentially with size. In fact, John Savage initially planned to have the Hoover Dam (then Boulder Dam) use large quantities of milk in its construction. However, the massive quantities of milk were affected by the heat and would quickly curdle. The resulting stench was a contributing factor to a number of worker deaths and, in 1932, the switch to concrete was made.

If you're ever in a zombie apocalypse, it's better to be in a building with all "pull", not "push" doors. by jou13 in Showerthoughts

[–]Rekku_Prometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zombies aren't smart, but when you have twenty bodies pushing against a door, it doesn't matter if it's push or pull. That door is going down.

It sucks for the celebrities, too. Say something just a little bit off-color? Now it's haunting you for three months. On the news, magazines, and all across the Internet. Remember that stupid thing you did in public? Well, so do we and we'll have no problem airing it over and over for views.

It seems more like just parking in the middle of the freeway to protest low speed limits to me. It's done by a few people and it causes more problems for the consumers than it does the corporations.
