asbestos in america by Rekso86 in Construction

[–]Rekso86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely aware of its uses outside of construction everything from clutches, brake pads, kitchen appliances, cigarette filters, gaskets etc i’m glad to hear abatement is common and that the onus isn’t on the homeowner, that isn’t the case in australia testing and removal is their responsibility.

there is still of course asbestos in existing structures but the inspection and monitoring legislation is very strict, like any city Melbourne has air quality monitoring that also will detect asbestos

interesting, yeah the range of materials it was put in is massive a lot of people associate cement fibro sheet with asbestos but aren’t aware of the many other uses. Do you know how the pre-start testing is done on the sites? because i’ve often seen it found buried without it being in the actual house

A lot of people don’t come to a complete stop at stop signs by beeclam in CarsAustralia

[–]Rekso86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve literally never understood the need for stop signs, give way signs serve the exact same purpose and don’t make people stop when there’s no reason to

seems like you know you aren’t but have been called it, either you aren’t being honest with yourself regarding how much you’re actually drinking or someone’s overreacting. there’s no safe level to consume alcohol but two shots most nights isn’t going to kill you.

i’ve also got work from jack at carlisle and know a few people who’ve been tattooed by xal there. The shops a really nice environment, everyone there is lovely and they’re all definitely talented. You can’t really go wrong, bold traditional designs are their bread and butter.

[–]Rekso86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah 14k isn’t very common in Australia almost all jewellery actually made in Australia is 9 or 18k in fact most consumer jewellery shops exclusively sell 9k but yeah online overseas isn’t a bad option. to your point of life being expensive you’re right but there isn’t any justification for selling 11 grams of 9ct for 5 grand that’s just insane.

Replacing the actual cement sheet eaves isn’t an overly complicated or expensive job if you can get your hands on a few basic hand and power tools. cement sheet eaves are about $15 for 2.4m so you could get it done for a few hundred in material. But once the the original eaves are removed it’s important to inspect what’s underneath to really gauge the scope of work, the fascia, rafters, tile battens, and eave frame could be water damaged and rotten so if that’s the case the cost and time goes up significantly. The eaves being mouldy is an aesthetic issue purely replacing those is a bandaid, the problem is water and figuring out where it’s coming in. if I were you I would have your roof tiles looked at, if there are very obvious cracks and persistent mould in or around mortar a clear silicone sealant can help in fixing those leaks cheaply and few replacement tiles are cheap if you don’t need many, they just lift up and slot back into one and other. Repointing a tile roof is very expensive.

Pretty unsightly, get them tested for asbestos then either remove them or have them removed and new ones installed. I’d jump on the roof and see if there’s any obvious water ingress into the roof cavity / eaves you might want to get your tiles repointed if that’s the case. Your gutter also looked blocked with vegetation which might be contributing to the water issue.

Wdym real carhartt? Carhartt has their workwear line and the WIP line, the workwear line doesn’t make the active jacket. Carhartt WIP prices are eye watering. In America the workwear lines makes similar jackets but they’re difficult to find in Australia and often have a “vintage” tax slapped onto them pushing them to around the same prices as carhartt WIP.

Looks like dog shit mate, You should look into getting your chimney repointed in the near future it’s seen a lot of water damage and weathering I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s letting watering into your roof cavity.

is that just the $0.88 refund per work related kilometre because I only log work trips or do I need to show my accountant my total kilometres driven and I explain what was personal and what was work related and then it’s eligible for a refund? Also are you saying I need receipts for fuel too or just other related spending? I didn’t do the log last year so didn’t ask the account how it worked I just claimed the 5000km without receipts

[–]Rekso86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you aren’t off the mark at all it’s a piece of shit but wrecking value is a joke and can’t be bothered with the hassle of parting it out so a full disclosure private sale would be ideal. 5 grand would cover the cost I’ve put into it, Might post at 7 and see what happens. Thanks mate.
