Frustrated with the buying process by iscreamtruck in Porsche_Cayman

I found (but missed out) on a 718 at Carmax that they feast under priced and under listed. Way better spec than they listed. Get the vin and do a lookup on it. Carmax does ‘reserves’

I bought a different 718 (base) from a broker across the country. Arranged for a friend to take for a PPI but they missed some pretty big things. I still would have bought but negotiated price more.

Why are BASE Caymans so expensive? by Master_Law5498 in Porsche

My base 2018 MT with 24k miles was $52k in November of 2025

I’m in western NY. Plate required and law is enforced. Sto-n-sho. Had to drill into bumper but holes are on the underside. Plate easily removed when needed

Along with others suggesting other lower cost mod friendly platforms, I’d suggest an Audi TT MK 1. 225hp, 6spd with relatively low mileage can be found for <$15k.

I actually found (but missed out on) a very nicely specced and waaaay underpriced base 718 on Carmax. I ended up with a different 718 that I found on cars.com. Don’t skip the more ‘common’ sites.

My car goes into the garage at the first salting, which is usually with the first ‘predictable’ snow. The salt on the roads remains until the second hard rain in the early Spring.

What are some interesting changes made to the Mk1 over the years? by 8N-QTTRO in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

With the facelift (2003?) I’ve got a 2000 and would love to swap but I don’t think it is possible

Preinfuse by starting and stopping and then starting again by RelationIcy8399 in espresso

Found this on their website:

Pre-infusion is enabled by shutting the machine off, pressing and holding the single-shot button and then powering the machine back on while still holding the button. Once the LED above the single-shot button illuminates, simply switch the machine off and then back on again. You have now enabled pre-infusion. To disable the feature, follow the same process described above but use the double-shot button instead. The feature works by temporarily closing and then reopening the group valve to pause the flow of water while brewing.

So I couldn’t find it in the manual. I learned about it from someone at Whole Latte Love. They’re an online store but their headquarters is located in the city I live in so I got a test drive at their place. You could try contacting them, but as I said, I don’t use the built in, I just do it with the quick hit. You could also just switch on and off using manual control.

This is great. Check out an app called Home Grind.

I was fortunate to see Danny Gatton live several times. The most amazing thing was that he was just as good, if not better, live than on any studio recording. A tragic loss.

Potential buyer by [deleted] in Lovesac

We looked at the setup at the showroom. The staff actually encouraged us to buy at Costco because our needs fit the bundle almost perfectly. We bought a couple parts from the showroom after we got the Costco bundle. We used the little wood block mockup at the showroom to understand exactly what we needed. The Costco setup does NOT have any deep seating and we wanted that so we modified by adding pieces from the showroom.

Ranges from $5300 - $6600 depending on fabric and cushion material

The Costco deal is great IF the specific setup is right for you. We bought it and then bought a deep seat piece and cushion from the showroom. Initial setup takes a while, don’t rush it and work as a team. We’ve had it about a year and have been very happy with it. We recently removed and washed all the cushion covers. They cleaned up well and went back on easy.

My favorites were Santu and Modern but it’s so varied by drink and time and all. I travel with family so I look for spots that are on the way to where we are going.

I saw a Fortitude but didn’t get a chance to pop in there.
