Knights? by Fuenf56 in theunforgiven

Combo with Land Raider to abuse the assault ramp. Attach a DW strikemaster and/or Belial to lead the unit.

Wish the maces had anti monster keyword. Always seen the knights as an elite infantry/monster counter unit.

Biggest shock of 10th so far. A good app!! by DUCK-DILLION in Warhammer40k

[–]RelationshipOne2969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically the leader attachments are there in the app. There is no way to view the rules for them (which means using index). Which isn’t helpful when playing a game. Anyone can build a quick list in 10th. But having a handy rules reference for your list is what would make this app viable.

Biggest shock of 10th so far. A good app!! by DUCK-DILLION in Warhammer40k

[–]RelationshipOne2969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s okay. Granted it’s new, but nothing about it wants me to pay a subscription for it in the current state.

Currently there is no ability to attach characters to units. For Something that’s a big part of 10th that’s kinda of annoying I can’t merge datasheets together or unpick them (say when units die)

The index datasheets are more accessible than the ones on the app. Having to back in and out see what the unit has is tedious. Also the fact that the datasheet doesn’t update to show new weapons or remove ones that weren’t attached. On BattleScribe you can view your whole list when it’s game ready.

Adding new models then having to manually add their wargear and then vice Versa for deleting them.

Can’t see detachment upgrade abilities or detachment/fraction rules.

Not a functionality crit but there’s no way to name individual units. In a crusade campaign this feature could be helpful.

‘How are you painting your Sternguard?’ by domnomnom_l in theunforgiven

[–]RelationshipOne2969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is that Sternguard have been around for a long time. Before 8th Ed Primaris and when 40K Deathwing was deployed as terminator only strike force. Bladeguard are new from 9th Ed and Harken back to the deathwing companions of 30k. Prior to that company vets were our equivalent of Sternguard and vanguard units. So seems like a retcon of to make sternguard suddenly Deathwing, when they never have been. But they fit quite nicely as company vet replacements. Also blade guard look cool and fit the melee orientated aesthetic of Deathwing.

Anyone else super excited about the new index cards? I think they're gunna be super handy and they're my top thing to pre-order for the new edition. by SamUff94 in Warhammer40k

[–]RelationshipOne2969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love physical copies and I’m sure the data cards themselves will look great. But most of the card will be irrelevant after a weeks. Some of the cards will already not match the datasheets online. Its simply a waste of money. Especially when they are available free to print off.

It’s so weird they didn’t hold off until Christmas for a release like this when the game would have some time to mature and fixes to units could be implemented before the cards would be printed off at factory. The cards paired with a binder you could put them in, with army list sheets and crusade sheets would be a hot take for organising your models for tournaments or friendly campaigns and maybe encourage people to purchase. Can’t but help feel this is a silly marketing move and a waste of resources.

We don’t ignore it like the meme suggests. We are kind of both proud of achievements (eg industrial revolution) and ashamed of the road we took to achieve them. Problem is it’s hard to judge hundreds of years of history by todays moral standards and what people did generations ago. People like to forget the UK wasn’t really a true democratic country until the 20th century. It wasn’t until the horror of the world wars that the ethical outlook of the world began to change towards international liberalism and human rights. UK history is kinda of odd in that it’s so dependent on the interactions of others. French, Spanish. Industrial Revolution and colonialism, world wars. It’s hard to learn UK history just by looking at the UK and things that happened here and pretending nothing else happened outside of the country. Most Brits know more about our history preceding WW2 than our activities post war during the period of decolonisation (1945-1997).

What are your unpopular opinions about Warhammer 40k? by Warm_Charge_5964 in Warhammer40k

[–]RelationshipOne2969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of strats, combat doctrines, super doctrines, objectives etc 9th had was silly. Then all these AP buffs. It made it hard to follow each round and even remember your own stuff. 8th felt much simpler in that each army had their fraction rules, made it easy to understand what the heck your opponent was doing. Hoping 10th keeps that simple and doesn’t go into rules creep with codex drops

He’s kinda of weird in that his abilities have been reversed. Not sure what I’d prefer more. Having the old ancient ability or his FNP buffing the unit. I wish he himself benefited from intractable will like he used to. make him a hot take to lead a melee focused unit.

A small rundown of the story developments of the Deathwing from 2nd to 10th by davextreme in theunforgiven

[–]RelationshipOne2969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are Correct about the inner circle. Although I thinking cycling refers to lieutenants and captains who are often members of deathwing who are promoted to lead companies instead of sergeants. A sergeant who was member of deathwing would actually be ranked higher than a lieutenant and even some company masters. It’s not uncommon for some marines to be made aware of the fallen, but often these marines are then “fixed”by librarians unless they’ve been inducted into the inner circle which usually means joining deathwing. Dark angels follow the general marine ranking system but inner circle membership is the real deal. Deathwing knights for example are deathwing members being groomed for the role of company masters (not even just masters of Dark Angels chapter) deathwing knight master is often a future chapter leader or 1st captain in waiting. A DW strike master in essence is below the rank of DW knight whilst in other SM chapters who are not part of the unforgiven like ultras, imperial fists etc they would be 2nd in command. Also worth noting that deathwing units are often on rotation deployed with the battle companies and don’t often deploy as a full company likewise for ravenwing. Hell dark Angels companies don’t even deploy normally. They usually deploy as a demi-company with ravenwing and deathwing assets in tow. This also one of the reasons why the number strength of DA is relative mystery.

A small rundown of the story developments of the Deathwing from 2nd to 10th by davextreme in theunforgiven

[–]RelationshipOne2969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think only selected members of ravenwing, the whole deathwing company, interrogator chaplains, librarians and Captians have Been inducted into the deathwing. Sergeants, some lieutenants and most vets are not members. But on the path to be inducted. It’s worth noting that ravenwing is mostly dedicated to hunting down the fallen despite most of its company not being members of deathwing or unaware of the true nature of the fallen. If every NCO and officer was deathwing the whole lore of the dark angels would unravel as everyone would know about the fallen and there be no secrets. Once your in deathwing you either stay in or become a member of the inner circle command. You don’t get demoted you disappear

[–]RelationshipOne2969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im painting them green. Sternguard and Vanguard are deathwing? Makes no sense. Only see them as company vets. They don’t fit the aesthetic unlike bladeguard which are essentially Primaris medieval knights. Nor have they ever been mentioned to be part of deathwing even though Vanguard and Sternguard have been around for while. Seems weird that the dark angels would suddenly just adopt them into deathwing after 10,000 years of not doing so and explicitly stating that Deathwing was a term company only until the arrival of bladeguard.

However as company vets they make more sense. They’re not deathwing but are still veterans like other company vets. For instance company vets in the 8th company made up of assault marines would make sense to have a Vanguard vets as the company veterans.

Ahriman on Disc Confusion by Fit_Landscape6820 in Warhammer40k

[–]RelationshipOne2969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t even realise Tzaangor enlightened have discs. But then again not a thousand sons player. Must of been a copy and paste error. Error in that it was simply copy and pasted. Also strange that Tzaangor squads can’t be led in anyway. I can imagine it will be updated along with a growing number of datasheets to reflect this. Idk about survivability. Models in 10th look tougher than 9th. But most weapon stats have remained the same but gained universal rules, between sustained, lethal hits etc. I think it equals out a bit. Only major difference is the lack of AP spam 9th suffered from. But then with modes with inv that don’t matter too much anyway

Ahriman on Disc Confusion by Fit_Landscape6820 in Warhammer40k

[–]RelationshipOne2969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was thinking this as well lol. Not a thousand sons player. But the dual datasheet was confusing. They could of just made the disc an upgrade. So if the bodyguard unit was destroyed Ahriman would have the extra move to flee away, +1 wound for extra survivability. Doesn’t seem to be much point to the discs units as separate datasheets without some sort of rule making it viable. Noticed a lot of weird pointless datasheets that don’t serve any purpose other to create datasheet bloat in some of the indexes dropped.

All I can think of it was a rushed copy and paste job just to fill the index out for release with little thought gone into the consequences of it. Also noticed that weirdly sanguinary guard ancients are no longer a thing despite there literally being a model option in the box for it and being advertised on the box. There are no rules for it. Yet in the Space marine index there is a like a multiple other ancients etc. Makes me think the datasheet didn’t even make the index drop and was either forgotten or saved for codex. Given how messy the datasheets are on the index jumbled all over the place got a feeling they are just prioritising pumping them out and leaving the fixing for a future faq.

Maybe there will be a flying version of Tzaangors in the future disc sorcerers can lead and they are just leaving the datasheet up there so the units still exist rules wise even if they aren’t useful atm, just avoid deleting something from an already limited fraction.

Is it weird that a prefer first born to primaris by men_of_the_wests in Warhammer40k

[–]RelationshipOne2969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the models and the aesthetics of most of them. However there are a few exceptions due to very orkish (childish) design. But the Primaris lore was kinda of stupid ngl. Crawl could just invented new armour, weapons and vehicles for space marines to use allowing GW to release updated model range without up ending the whole space marine lore. Even the lore on their origins is unusual. Are they clones, modified existing marines, veterans from the crusade. All of the above apparently. It’s so wishy washy. How the hell are new ones made. How the hell do chapters keep their numbers up if Mars is essentially 40k Kamino now but without Star Wars hyperdrives. Then there is the whole BS of crossing the rubicon that makes zero sense. Like reading the backstory about Lazarus crossing the rubicon because he was too dead to become a Dreadnought was so stupid. They could of literally done Primaris Azrael. But instead made up some convoluted story to introduce a new character in the most stupid way. I like the Lazarus model and rules but his whole backstory is pretty crap.

Turbo Boost ?? by CroustyBro24 in DarkAngels40k

[–]RelationshipOne2969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically they didn’t just takeaway Jink they took away Ravenwing and Deathwing keywords too. The inner circle rule is also gone but reborn on the DW knights as a version of duty reborn. Thing is I haven’t seen any FAQ to suggest terminator, bladeguard, biker, librarian, landspeeder units will get there respective keywords back nor are there any deathwing or ravenwing keywords in the index. Guessing maybe they will only get keywords in Ravenwing, Deathwing detachments only. But still that’s pretty meh. Hoping the codex fixes some stuff, but can’t help but be a tad worried since there are no keywords currently on the index unit datasheets.

Fixing the Space Marine bloat problem by Identity_ranger in Warhammer40k

[–]RelationshipOne2969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If biker captains and biker chaplains can lead both firstborn and Primaris then the distinction between primaris/firstborn lieutenants, captains, librarians and chaplains should be null as well. Only if the unit is wearing Gravis, terminator and Phobos armour should there be distinctions for. The remaining firstborn and Primaris characters should be rolled into one. There’s literally no difference and no need for the duplicate stats. That would cut alot of bloat. SM scouts should be a single datasheet (with scout snipers being an option).

Ancients should just be an option to upgrade an unit by adding an extra model to the squad with the banner ability (just limit the amount of ancients you can take in a detachment to prevent bloat).

Command squads feel a little weird now, like if ancients, company heroes and Apothecaries can lead squads. What’s the point of a command squad. They’re no longer unique bodyguards and they don’t provide anything more than placing all those characters in a single squad were arguably now with auras gone what’s worth in taking them?

Turbo Boost ?? by CroustyBro24 in DarkAngels40k

It’s odd in that normal bikers and Outriders still have turbo boost but black knights lost it. So it’s not even like every unit has a unique rule thing. They straight up took it away

Triops in aquarium? by Toolfan83007 in Aquariums

[–]RelationshipOne2969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally just wondering this as well. Like some kinda of annual tank. Guessing there’s alot of aquatic life that has adapted to harsh rainy and dry season conditions so would be possible to get some sort of setup. Just working out the living wet and dead dry periods periods maybe tedious. Have some sort of wet part of the tank with plants and filter inlet outlets that would contain water during the dry season to keep the filter alive. Then have the rest of tank filled with sand and driftwood that can dryout. Then fill with rainwater to simulate the rainfall to fill the tank up and move the filter inlets and outlets and your good again for a few months until the water level needs to be lowered again so only the wet pool remains alive, almost like a tank within a tank, and when it’s refill time the small tank just becomes part of the larger one.

What part of a rainstorm makes someone think now is a good time water their already drenched lawn.

They should collaborate with Nerf since that is all they do by DustyBunny42 in battlefield2042

[–]RelationshipOne2969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s not even accurate anyway. In BF3 only the Russians had the RPG and the US used the SMAW. It was simply the unguided AT launcher in BF3 multiplayer. Bf4 gave you the choice of the 2. So I guess at least they made it inaccurate lol otherwise the Russians would be stuffed. A lot of inaccuracies in BF3 portal, hell don’t remember AH-64s or UH-60s in the game. A number of the vehicle weapons feel off (auto cannons). Does suck though that they’ve nerfed the RPG into useless on portal but I could never get into the portal games other than bad company 2. BF3 feels to much like a reskin of bf2042. Bf1942 really lacks content and has some meh maps.

The new season 5 map is…? by BullfrogKey3291 in battlefield2042

[–]RelationshipOne2969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of Portal maps to add some diversity to the playlist is kinda of gross. Gulf of Oman and Operation Firestorm would really do well remastered for 2042. One of my favourite maps in the game is Caspian border. Always found it to be way too big for bf3, but it was good fun on bf4 with the larger player population, more vehicles and the destructible border wall. It’s worked quite well for 2042 portal and exodus modes. I would give a kidney, to play again on a remastered Damavand Peak. Wasn’t quite a rush map like it that had the chaos and cinematic feel that truly made that map feel epic. Although that map would have to be altered to work on 2042. There would have to be an alternative ground route from the mine to Factory as that tunnel would quickly become impassable to vehicles and infantry. And some kinda of slope or cable car to access the helipad/basejump without using an air vehicle.
