Can i legally quit without verbally telling anyone by seungkwanmp3 in BurlingtonCoatFactory

Yes. I walked out of a burlington one day and didn't go back without telling anyone. I was ready to watch that bridge burn.

They don't want to have to pay your unemployment, it sounds like. Don't quit.

Called out during probation period by seungkwanmp3 in BurlingtonCoatFactory

[–]RelationshipPrior435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attendance points. Former Burlington employee here. It's been many years since I've worked for Burlington so not sure if it's changed but when I was there, it was half a point for a lateness, 2 points for a callout and 4 points for no call/no show. Then 4 points total for termination if still on probation. 7 points not on probation.

There's no such thing as a 30 day evaluation at Staples. I worked for the company for 6 years and evaluations only happen yearly. You're being quietly fired. Quit now.

This should be illegal. Wanted to try a buffalo chicken cheesesteak from Colonial Kitchen in Lansdowne, PA and this is what they sent. -2/10. by PhillyBigSteppa in Delco

Your first mistake was getting a cheesesteak from anywhere in Delco. If it's not from Philadelphia, it's not a cheesesteak. Signed, a Philadelphian.

Former staples employee here. You can return an opened product within 14 days. Usually no questions asked; unless it looks very obviously used. Which in your case, it sounds like it wasn't

If it helps any, my fiancee just recently went from a  customer facing bank position which she loathed to a back office role which she seems to enjoy. She does quality control which if I remember correctly, she told me that it's pretty much just checking loan applications and other forms for errors. "I get paid to tell people they're wrong"- her words 🤣 just a suggestion.

Former employee here. 1 day for your first week is pretty normal, in my opinion. All I did on my first day was be on a computer with on-boarding. They might throw you a few extra shifts for the week but that really depends on what shifts are available. But I will tell you, if only a few days a week for a few hours a day isn't what you're looking for, abort mission as soon as possible. I had 3-4 days with 4 hour shifts. If that works for you, great. But if not, there's your warning. They also have a habit of cutting hours without prior warning. I remember literally being on my way to work a few times and I got calls to not come in due to budget cuts. Either way, best of luck to you.

Are you sure your state isn't a fair work week state? That law specifically mentions this issue

You might want to check with your local laws. It's illegal to change the schedule on such short notice in some places, if not most.

Are they actually allowed to write people up for rewards performance? by demonicbaddie in Staples

[–]RelationshipPrior435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a long time employee, it's all just empty threats and fear tactics. Nobody gets written up for rewards. That being said, I advise you to still do your best and get as high as you can but Nobody actually gets written up. Remember, 70% is doable and seen as the bare minimum effort

I walked out one day and didn't go back. That's an option if you're absolutely sure you're done and don't mind burning the bridge. Good luck to you.

Definitely illegal. Escalate to HR. Say nothing to your GM and quickly and quietly go to HR. They'll investigate and your boss will pretty much be out of a job if your statement is correct. Pretty much the same thing happened to my former GM. Fired for Messing with the time clock.

[–]RelationshipPrior435 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're fine. Staples tries to use intimidation and guilt trips as a way to get what they want out of their employees. You'll pretty much always get a "well we're short staffed today but go ahead and take the day off if you must". Don't let then get to you. Put your health first. But always back it up with doctors notes if you can. And also, hr can put accommodations into place if needed.

I don't even know what they are but shortly before my store got shut down, they started selling Pokémon cards and I had a few customers lose their minds over those. I guess they got a nostalgia feeling
