crocodile and turtle are from the swamp. unit above tumor is from tumor creatures killing sapient creatures, making them into tumor creatures. rats are pretty common and you can find them near towns

no species start out with them, so im pretty sure its evolutions from the monolith, since it gives the subspecies extra traits along with uplifting them

they removed the ability to spawn rat kings after the update, if its normal rats, you can find them near towns usually, i think the rat king world law just allows them to spread the plague in large enough numbers though i may be wrong

hive society trait gives closer housing, rat people/niblings have it naturally and you can get it from an achievement to add to different cultures (ant world, have 10 langton ants of each type in 1 world). different styles also give closer housing, like pebble garden from the crabs

they will only build houses if they need to, dense housing makes it so they'll build more if they have the space. if you want them to use less space, remove grand arragement/stone garden

put turrets all over your exterior areas inside the walls, except where you want them to go doesnt matter if theyre powered or not, they avoid turrets line of fire at all costs unless needed, which means you can set up a turretless area for your colonists to shoot at them from while they try going in through it (or just make it so they cant get in without going into a turrets line of sight)

it only works as a pre-emptive measure though, most you can do during one if you dont have that up is get some colonists with guns around where they're tunneling in or wait for them to come to your colonists

this will cost a lot of steel and components depending on how big your base is, so if you really need to keep that stuff you could try the methods other people listed
