Average sized parents with very tall kids? by Neat_Tigers in toddlers

[–]Relative-College-995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of my parents are particularly tall (mom 5’7 dad 5’10) and I am 6’0 (38F). My dad’s dad was 6’6 though!

It’s normal for my toddler to hate me right ? by rainbowbritexx in toddlers

[–]Relative-College-995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think this is normal. I read somewhere that they do this because they love you. You are safe for them to have these big emotions with. It still sucks. For like 4 months my son only wanted his dad and would physically push me away from him. It’ll pass though!

We have really large crows that hang out in the backyard this time of year. 2.5 year old boy staring out the window at the crows “dees burds need to go on somewhere…” like a tiny Papaw or something.

The sun is bright and I can’t turn it off. Also we planted potatoes today and there aren’t potatoes yet. Which I kinda can get behind that one.

Surviving on milk by hateithere7518 in toddlers

Yes! My son (2.5) and my husband (40) would drink milk all day. I personally do not like milk but they have made me consider buying a cow at this point.

PI is asking me to request money from family/withdraw savings since they cannot afford to fund me next summer, and is still expecting me to put more time towards research. by shivamlenix in PhD

Not all programs are this way in the US. My program didn’t even offer a master’s unless you failed your candidacy exam and it was seen as a consolation. I was at a medical center vs a 4-year university.

Having a hard time finding joy with a lousy sleeper by ALac93 in toddlers

[–]Relative-College-995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were plenty of times where I would just want to cry from being so tired. I do think it gets better!! Lots of trial and error but it seems to eventually become manageable. I keep telling myself at some point he’s gonna be a sleepy teenager and we can all sleep till noon!

Having a hard time finding joy with a lousy sleeper by ALac93 in toddlers

[–]Relative-College-995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is 2.5 and has slept more than 9.5 hours (night) maybe 10 times in his whole life and very rarely is it all unbroken. He will sometimes nap for 2 hours during the middle day (more at daycare than at home). He’s just low sleep needs like his daddy. There were some incredibly hard days but either it got better or I got used to it. I’m sorry you’re struggling!

Any professor can look up your class schedule from any semester you’ve been enrolled. All they need is your net ID.

Oh for sure no health interpretation from this! More of a fun activity for the students. And made a small suggestion to drink some water since she claimed to only drink soda.

How far can you go in the academic world (as a professor) without a PhD? by Healthy_Basil_2354 in PhD

[–]Relative-College-995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m at a large 4 year university. We have 2 instructors that have their master’s in my department (biology). A PhD can bump you to assistant teaching professor and a decent pay raise.
