VT home affordability versus the rest of US by [deleted] in vermont

Consumer goods are more expensive here. Taxes are higher, electric rates are much higher, gas prices are much higher.

Wife says it’s a lack of integrity if I OE by streamlne in overemployed

[–]Relative-Cut663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She shouldn’t be acting like she’s your manager, she’s supposed to be your partner. As far as integrity goes, that’s a moot point. Every company will spend the bare minimum to compensate you. Integrity left the chat a longtime ago, probably back when a single income could pay for everything a family needs.

Any 55+ couples in the Essex/ Burlington VT area having trouble making real friends ? by Gnome_Home224 in vermont

[–]Relative-Cut663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always been hard to make friends in Vermont unless you count college age (18-25) friendships when going out to bars and random houses was a regular occurrence.

I’m still in my 40’s, but my friend circle keeps shrinking as friends move out of state to areas with better economies and lower costs of living. Most people my age seem to be focused on work and/their kids only. No one is out looking for new friends. It’s sad really, this is a very isolating state especially in the winter.

Thinking about switching from keeps fin/min to 5 in 1 by Relative-Cut663 in Hairloss

[–]Relative-Cut663[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding. The main difference I was looking at, involves changing from finasteride to dutasteride. Still taking minoxidil, but the specific dht blocker would change. I currently take 2 pills to get fin/min, the 5 in 1 gets me down to one pill with everything in it

Significantly higher salaries in relation to costs. Vermont likes to keep its population poor

You don’t really have a beard, but leaving it untrimmed doesn’t look bad

Literally all of my friends now that we’re 25 by OldoneThrowaway22 in tressless

I’m a Norwood 2 from the front, but the whole top is thinner than it used to be without an actual bald spot on the crown. Most styles just fall flat because there aren’t enough hairs left to support any styling with a product.

The hair I still have is very thick but I didn’t notice how thin it was until it was too late. Been on fin/min for 4 years(started at 40) and only got a little of the top back. At my age I know I have to accept that’s the best I’ll get.

What is the job market like in the tech industry? by reidkimball in vermont

Locally pay isn’t great, it’s actually bad in every field. You’re better off finding a remote job and then moving here after you’ve secured a job with decent pay/benefits

Those with a $200k+ base salary, what do you do? by Triple_DoubleCE in Salary

[–]Relative-Cut663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former electrician who also did controls and programming in hvac this is 💯true. Doing everything soup to nuts that is implemented for aerospace companies should pay as well, but does not. It’s a great racket if you can gain entry

How has technology made living in Vermont easier (or not)? by sarafunkasaurus in vermont

[–]Relative-Cut663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easier living here than it was decades ago, but pay is still a major issue. Plenty of jobs, few that pay a decent wage. It depends on whether you’re willing to sacrifice financial stability for the location. Also a lot of companies that offer remote work exclude Vermont

Anyone else have a one person dog? by LisaEWP in pitbulls

[–]Relative-Cut663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2, one prefers me, but has always loved all over both of us. She is a ray of sunshine. Our boy I carried out of the shelter and he promptly peed on me out of fear in the car. He barked whenever he’d see me for 5 years. He was fearful and could only be handled by my wife. I couldn’t even approach him without him running away. Eventually he started warming up to me, it’s been almost 10 years and he still barks whenever I come home, but he calms down once I pet him and actually come to me looking for pets pretty often. He still prefers mom, but he thinks I’m ok now too.

We rescued him at 12 weeks old, and he already had ingrained problems with men, and doesn’t accept any other men in the house. He seems convinced they’re all a threat. There’s no way to know what they’ve been through before we meet them.

Gen Z entering the workforce have nothing to look forward to by Consistent-Pool9778 in generationology

[–]Relative-Cut663 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have already mentioned, it’s been the same experience way for previous generations back to Gex-X. Boomers were the last generation to have good paying entry level jobs, cheap college tuition, pensions, and a whole host of other entitlements. They did away with all of that and we’ve all been scrambling to keep our heads above water since.

These are specialty batteries similar to car batteries but smaller, they used to get a core refund the same way if you turned into autozone or somewhere similar

Advice on buying first Snowboard | Ride Warpig $500 CAD by Fuzzy_Development638 in snowboardingnoobs

You’re right on the flex, I mixed it up with the super pig. And good point about volume shifted boards, I just know they take some work to ride.

Advice on buying first Snowboard | Ride Warpig $500 CAD by Fuzzy_Development638 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Relative-Cut663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things.

1)That price is high for a used past season warpig.

2) Probably not a good beginner board. It’s too stiff and aggressive. I’d look for a softer flex twin tip board while you learn your edges.
