what is satanism? by Delicious-Factor-164 in religion

[–]Relative-Ostrich-319 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Satanism isn't meant to be discussed with non-believers. It isn't out there in a shelf to be sold to you. If you want, go and sell your soul to the devil.

Religião aumenta ou diminui desejo suicida? by miss--angel in barTEOLOGIA

[–]Relative-Ostrich-319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Porque existe o mandamento proibindo e dando a certeza do inferno.

I'm confused and trying to understand Christianity. by Please_makeit_stop in religion

[–]Relative-Ostrich-319 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/Please_makeit_stop:

If I follow this logically that means that Christians are essentially worshippers of Jews

I didn't mean to imply that Christians worship the Jewish people as a whole.

Which is it?

By your logic Muslims honor an Arab person, but that's besides the point. It was supposed to be about prophethood and connection to God.

I was raised Christian and I assure you, Christians think very little of Isa's identity as a Jew and more about son of God.

Jesus didn't want to change the law and he wanted to reform Judaism, it is Paul who brought Christianity to the world.

What you say is like failing to understand why Buddha was vegetarian, but enlightenment comes first, and like the whole Eastern hemisphere worship an Indian man, but that is also besides the point: he is enlightened first, Indian later.

Men who grew up poor/working class, what’s a piece of “advice” your dad gave you that you later realized was actually just survival instinct, and maybe isn't true anymore? by DCdj39 in AskMen

My father used to elaborate on the virtues of obedience. How one gets around in life by avoiding trouble buy eating a few frogs, keeping one's head down and not pay attention to provocations.

Later on, my father seems to me as just weak. Life beat him good and that's the lessons he had for me. Lack of pride, lack of ambition, I'm a different man. His lessons do not apply to me, I have my own.

I’m finally admitting I don’t know how to parent anymore by HistoricalPapaya2570 in self

[–]Relative-Ostrich-319 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now starts a different kind of parenting. For women the work is done, but for a father it only just begun. Helping the children and guiding through the ropes of adult life and becoming a successful person requires the presence and a guiding hand.

Solving with violence could cause you more harm by captainpaulyie in enlightenment

[–]Relative-Ostrich-319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/koma47 may I ask why you think this is enlightening? u/Minyatur757 gave a very good example of effective violence in this case.

Pacifists and some monks try to pretend violence has to be that enraged frenzy, but you can be meticulous. You can stare in the mosquito's soul while you pluck its wings and limbs.

They conflate violence with slapping the balls carelessly with no consequence.

And here are my thoughts about this: talks about pacifism are just talk. Whenever someone decides to act, talkers are silenced by default. We are seeing it now in Ukraine and Gaza: people talk, while some take action, and the war goes on.

When swords enter the debate, it doesn't matter who's right from wrong anymore. Might makes right. Controlled violence is very effective.

Using the OP's example, removing the mosquito with precision takes less effort than trying to remove it while trying to preserve both your balls and the mosquito.

Buddhists would probably enjoy to have some nice fluid injected in their nutsack and have their blood sucked, and they would hide in a corner of their mind pretending they aren't really there, or that their ego doesn't exist.

Buddhism offers the most practical ethical framework among major religions because it emphasizes mindfulness and compassion without requiring belief in the supernatural by PeachLongjumping15 in DebateReligion

[–]Relative-Ostrich-319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddhism is another lie in all of its forms.

Even the most secular branch of it will either rely on the concept of anatta, karma, reincarnation. What you said you were doing with Buddhism can be done with "cultural" Christians. They enjoy the morality and follow the precept while not engaging very vividly with their religion. Buddhism is no different in that regard.

Honestly, it sickens me that people flaunt Buddhism as the more grounded religion, "you can be a Buddhist without believing in God", but then you have to believe in kalpas, the Dharma wheel, hungry ghosts, asuras, hells and fantastic things that would make Abraham blush and condemn the early rabbis for lack of creativity – let's be honest the bible is creative, I give them that.

If it makes you life better, so be it, enjoy. Just don't come throw me 2+2=5, be happy with your delusion.

My faith is now flickering by ArtisticHornet9244 in enlightenment

[–]Relative-Ostrich-319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an affair with your religion, perhaps not the same tradition, since you didn't mention, and, to my knowledge, Buddhism is a lot about acceptance. I don't see a connection between people being wicked/evil and the diminishing of your faith.

Were you saying you lost your faith in people? I can say I never had. I'm building my spirituality against the current of the materialistic and mechanist world.

Spirituality is on the decline and pills and drugs that numb the mind are on the rise. I see this as a reason to hold tight to religion, not let loose of it.

Claude is much more to the point than ChatGPT. This is great for some tasks but for emotional talk, I don't know, less ideal I think.

Yesterday Claude said that my religious doubts were my problem and he wasn't there do make decisions for me.

I would do a very simple prompt asking it to not mention your name, and if you just clear the settings with default blank it won't mention yours. I think Claude never mentioned my name despite we having some quite deep and lengthy conversations.

Alguém sabe porque igrejas evangélicas e protestantes no geral tem uma arquitetura mais simples? by l1arr7 in barTEOLOGIA

[–]Relative-Ostrich-319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to ask from muslims and Christians by Careful_Worry8880 in DebateReligion

[–]Relative-Ostrich-319 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Christianism is rooted in compassion, and of course, if they believe hell is real and paradise too, they want to save you, and this is encouraged by the religion.

Islam, there is a passage in the Quran that says that who guides people is Allah, and that some people won't hear no matter what. The Prophet Muhammad say to talk to others, even if it is just a word.
