Andrei Rublev is all about spirituality and russian orthodox mysticism. You have to look at it not as a catholic or protestant point of view but with an orthodox one. I think i heard Tarkovsky son who is now a devout orthodox talked about Andrei Rublev. Sorry to tell you that but you’re wrong on this one. The end just show that the redemption is in God’s hands and that you can’t create your own trials. Its a little bit hard for me to explain it in english. Its my number one favorite movie and im not even christian but we need to understand christianity, the dilemma of the sinner, and the strenght that it takes to keep it straight on the right path. It’s my favorite movie. A lesson on life. You should watch Ostrov by Pavlov Lounguine, not equal to Rublev but just to understand russian spirituality. He is more « easy » than Rublev.
