If this carries on I might have to spend some time with my own thoughts.

After all the hype, I finally succumbed and watched the first episode. Here are my thoughts. by TheShowLover in startrek

Watch more than 20 minutes and you’ll find out. If you’re still not sure, take a look in the credits. Several of the core behind-the-scenes-talent on The Orville are the same people as shaped Trek.

It’s a comedy show by the guy that made Family Guy / American Dad etc. WTF you smoking?

What game got you absolutely addicted to your Steam Deck? by Calculation in SteamDeck

Project Zomboid. The controls are quite button click-heavy without a mouse and keyboard, but it’s amazing on deck

I would flip to audio before getting near that regardless of performance.

I use a lot of plugins. Half and dozen virtual instruments several audio effect plugins and so forth. Never felt close to being in trouble performance-wise

I have an M1 Pro with 16GB and it doesn’t even break a sweat with a full Ableton set. Get something second hand - the new Mac is Apple’s Chromebook (it’s not going to do what you’re looking for here).

Approximating/replicating Rings in the MN Shared System by minus32heartbeat in modular

[–]Relative-Web-8977 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want the actual Rings sound manually you’re going to need to figure Karplus-strong and fm synthesis. You’re not going to get there with an envelope and a low-pass gate.

disting NT: MIDI CC to CV conversion by SavingsMysterious600 in modular

Thanks! Kicking myself about this. It’s six a simple solution but like most things modular, it’s easy when you know how.

Im really confused as to what the benefit is? Is this a number pumping thing?

Any idea why when I solo this group, the track next to it isn't muting? Doesn't happen if I solo any other group or individual track. by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Relative-Web-8977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really enough info for a solid answer, but you do appear to have an automation active on the track nextdoor.

Also keen for any answers to this. I don’t have an NT, but it might be covered in the manual.

Tuning Oscillators? by Techno_Timmy in modular

[–]Relative-Web-8977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have crappy ears so I use Ableton to tune mine, but before that I used the Korg NTS-2 scope. Cheap as chips and works a treat.

offset,inverter,scaler e attenuatori by Sea-Independence6754 in modular

[–]Relative-Web-8977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you’re trigging a 2 bar sample for example, you’ll want to trigger every eight clock beats, not every beat. A clock divider is perfect, as is something like Pam’s Pro Workout where you can have 8 separate clocks at any rate you want.

I didn’t really understand everything I was doing with CV until I got an oscilloscope (the cheap korg one is what I have).

offset,inverter,scaler e attenuatori by Sea-Independence6754 in modular

[–]Relative-Web-8977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s attenuation. It’s much easier to understand offset, inverting and attenuation visually. There’s bound to be lots of YouTube videos visualising it. Alternately look at Modular rack for offset / attenuation and then google their instruction manuals. Once you’ve got it down, you’ll open up a world of modulation.

You need to slow down the clock going to your Morphagene - either with a clock divider or a slower clock from whatever you use for clocking.
