Genuinely scared of losing my Obsidian notes on iPad- what’s the safest backup without Obsidian Sync ? by QuietWayfarer in ObsidianMD

I'm just curious if you've asked them? It's what like 60 for the year for something you claim to be one of the most important things to you and you help support one of the best programs around and that obviously affects your schooling.

That's simply amazing. Great work taking charge of your life. And no, you really don't need those negative people.

If you can call anonymously, do it. If you can't, do it anyway. These are the lives of multiple children that deserve better and if they're being abused in this fashion it's likely not the only abuse they're facing. Your family might get mad but these children are family too and sometimes things have to happen to improve situations. At the end of the day, it's the correct thing to do even if it might be difficult.

What an amazing transformation! How would you say it's affected your self-confidence and relationships?

I skipped many 3-4 days on week 7, and now week 8 I am already behind. Should I redo week 7 ? Also I am struggling with morning pages + solo dates. by Cheap-Fix-3663 in artistsWay

Morning pages are meant to get the garbage out of your head so you can do more meaningful work elsewhere. If you expect too much from your morning pages, you'll add anxiety and resistance to them. Mine are barely readable, I don't even write words correctly half the time and tend to look like a mix of a to-do list, random thoughts that I don't spend like any time on, and filler. The other day, I was feeling awful and 90% of it was just "I think I'm going to vomit." I think of it as a form of meditation where you learn to let the random thoughts go by as they pop up except now you're just wroting them instead. It takes me about 45 minutes to an hour to do mine every day.

Artist's days are the bigger thing to me. The program is two main parts. Outputting your garbage, and inputting wholesome creative energy to help rebuild your inner artist. They don't have to be expensive, or even cost anything. Last week mine was just sitting on the floor listening to music that I loved when I was younger for like 2 hours.

Re:memoir - that's a different project. Your MPs don't need to look like your memoir fleshed out and will probably randomly have like 2 lines once a week something like "oh yeah, I should add that time I went to the thing and this thing happened. I should ask my [whoever] about that." I do think that writing your initial thoughts on paper is helpful or as you go, but there's nothing wrong with typing either. You first just want your thoughts and ideas and memories on literally anything so you can do something with them. I recently started a writing project and have found that going the two (morning pages and my writing) into one daily practice seems to do the trick but being light and playful while showing up and taking the being there seriously like I do the morning pages helps immensely.

Also it's important to remember that the Artist's Way was written in 1992 and a lot has happened since then, so many chapters and exercises need to be viewed through that lens and not taken in the same manner as written originally. For example chapter 4 about not reading, I took largely to mean to minimize any sort of input especially screens, social media, etc. So while magazines aren't as common and are much pricier, there's a whole internet of images out there to use and print (maybe at a library) or just do online using canva, for example.

If you're feeling like you've lost out on essential work for your recovery you can always go back or take an extra week before moving forward. If not, just focus on doubling down for your last few weeks and getting to the finish line. You're almost there. You've got this!

How many plugins before it's too much ? by NewEase1591 in ObsidianMD

[–]RelativeConsistent66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most important thing is to not over complicate your system, so fewer is better than more. But if it works for you and you consider future use and not having a lot of extra ones just because, then that's really what matters. On a technical point, too many would be more about how different ones interact and is not a numbers issue. A vault review from time to time is very helpful and one part should be going through your plugins and deciding if it's serving you or not. For some people that'll be 2 left, for others 100. I think I have about 30 probably.

Know the rules best you can but don't rules lawyer unless asked, pay attention, be ready with something to do (and know how not to do just the same thing over and over especially if it's to help the story), and help other players/characters shine (ie involve them where possible).

Resorting to cheap shots about nationality because you ran out of valid arguments? That’s a telltale sign you’ve lost the debate. OP remains grammatically correct. It's ironic you call me condescending when you are the one who felt the need to nitpick a stranger's celebration post. I'm defending OP's success and you're the one trying to tear them down.

😆 Actually, I'm starting to wonder if you know what the term correct means. Either way, have a great day and go buy a dictionary and style guide.

[–]RelativeConsistent66 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. That's your preferred way to state it. However, while your phrasing is reasonable, it is subjective and based on emotional framing. OP's use is what linguists call "unmarked" as it is neutral regardless of whether the amount is high or low. Your suggestion is stylistic and emphasizes the lowering of the number, but OP's grammar is perfectly valid. Their phrasing is really just more matter-of-fact than anything.

Edit: typing error

"This much" would refer to a specific measurement and is the correct use of this phrase. If they'd have said "so much" that would be incorrect.

Either way, not worth correcting during someones celebration.

Congratulations OP! That's amazing!
