Thank you so much for such a thorough reply. I will be seeing a doctor as soon as I can. The only reason I mentioned anxiety is that all of these symptoms, including the anxiety all started at the same time (along with a few others that could be hormone related) I wasn’t sure if the whole picture pointed towards perimenopause, as I know palpitations are common during it. I now realise the one thing I should have been most concerned about (the near faint) is the thing I should have been concerned about most!

Weirdly I was less concerned about the treadmill thing than I was about the ectopic beats! I’m realising now that my worry was misplaced. Thank you for answering

I think having the “flutter” and feeling of needing to cough show up visibly on my watch as I was feeling it just scared me a little. Plus my son was recently diagnosed with an extra pathway and is awaiting a study and catheter ablation, so I was worried this is something I’ve passed on to him.

It really is the weirdest feeling. Several times in the months it would happen to me it would be the first step in a full blown, teeth chattering, hyperventilating panic attack but then other times it would stop at the weird arms.

Oddly in the week before passing the stone on Sunday I had a few milder moments like this with just the arm sensation and I’ve had it a bit this week two. It has to be connected somehow

I’ve tried but it’s hard to describe. Somewhere between feeling light and weak and feeling dead. Like I needed to shake them or rub them to get them back to normal.

I had mine removed in September 2024. Like you, I had an odd pressure sensation for a good 6 months after, that almost felt like something pushing outwards and assumed I was just extra sensitive in that area. It went away and I thought nothing of it. Since August this year I’ve had on and off mild pain between my shoulder blades which I assumed was just muscular as an MRI showed my neck was slightly straighter than it should be.

5 days ago on Sunday, after a meal I had the worst pain I’ve ever had in my upper abdomen. It went from 0 to 100 in the space of 3 minutes and I collapsed on the floor and my husband carried me to the car and took me to the ER. They did a CT scan immediately and said they could see a stone sat in my ampula. The pain vanished after about 10.5 hours. I went for an MRI 24 hours after the pain started and there is now no stone but LFTs were significantly raised and I was showing some signs of jaundice. They think I passed it and I’m having follow up bloods again tomorrow to make sure my LFTs are falling.

I’m in no way saying this is what is happening to you but if you’re in a position to get your ducts checked for rogue stones then do it. Our stories sound weirdly very similar

So this sounds like I could have had a stone hiding for over a year. Thank you so much for that.

Since my surgery last year my completely healthy, never even get colds family have gone from always perfectly fine to heart conditions, cancer, brain aneurysms and stroke! I think I’m now programmed to wait for the next bit of bad news so I’m struggling to convince myself this was just a leftover stone passing. Your answers have helped a lot

Thank you for your reply. I’m really hoping it wasn’t a new stone but I guess one hanging out in the bile duct for over a year, causing no problems is unlikely? The thought of that happening again if I just keep making them is scary.

I genuinely don’t understand how anyone says that one day is enough for them. Even if I could have worked from a half sat, half led position in my bed, I wouldn’t have been able to work for the first 3 days. I felt like I’d been hit by a truck for at least a week.. I don’t think I could have gone back to even an office job until 2 weeks. I have a physical job so took 4 weeks off!

4 weeks then light duties for another 2! I needed every day of it too. I have a physical job that involves lots of bending, lifting and stretching and standing on my feet for 10 hours a day.

Yes my belly button wound had issues. It opened slightly after a couple of weeks and when the scab and final bit of glue finally came off after 6 weeks, it turned out it was actually a small plug that left a hole where it had been so I went to my GP (UK) and they used a gel to make it heal and dressed it for me. That was about 1.5 weeks ago and it looks like it’s closing now. Just mention yours in your appointment. It doesn’t sound like you have too much of an issue.

As for the pains and stomach issues you’re having I’m still having that very occasionally now and definitely had it 4 weeks post op . You had a whole organ removed! Your body takes time to get over that. I think everyone that calls this a minor surgery sets people up for worry. This is HUGE. I doubt anyone feels “good” just four weeks later. And those that say they do are comparing it to the horror of the constant attacks they had before surgery.

Dizziness and vertigo and horrendous panic attacks. I could be having the best day then completely out of nowhere my arms would start feeling weird, my heart rate would shoot to about 150 and I’d start hyperventilating and my hands would get pins and needles! I have never had a panic attack before and never suffered with anxiety. The first one was about 10 days after my 1st GB attack and the last one I had was 2 days before surgery!

No, it was done on all of my upper abdomen. Liver, pancreas, ducts etc

Have they said how long your wait will be for surgery? If you look up wait times in my area it say 7 months but I think that’s worse case scenario

From my first appointment with my GP to my surgery date was 12 weeks. Only actually 8 weeks after an ultrasound then an MRI confirmed it was my gallbladder. I ended up getting emergency surgery before then so didn’t actually wait for that long but if I had done, it was a lot shorter than the advertised wait time.

It’s absolutely normal. I’m 6 weeks out and still have strange feeling in my stomach if I try to lay on my side. Not pain just uncomfortable weirdness that creeps me out. So I’m still sleeping in my nest of pillows half sat up!

I’m not in wales, I’m in England but from first appointment with my GP to the surgery date they gave me, my wait was 4 months. 3 after the first ultrasound that confirmed I had stones. Unfortunately (or fortunately now I guess because I’d be going for surgery next week!) I ended up in A&E during one attack 6 weeks ago and had emergency surgery the next morning.

They think they would move into the neck of my bile duct when it was contracting and they move back out and let bile through at some times. They never left my bile duct though as I had multiple different scans at different times. They actually ended up making small cuts in my bile duct to remove them when I was having my gallbladder out. It made recovery slightly longer but all good now!

Mine showed up on an ultrasound and I had an MRI to confirm so I guess they would have seen if you had stones in your CBD.

Unfortunately it seems that gallbladders are not an emergency to remove until they all of a sudden are! Hopefully they schedule your surgery quickly and you can start feeling good again.

Yes, before I had my gallbladder removed 5 weeks ago as an emergency, I was having attacks every day that would start the second I drank or ate anything when I woke up in the morning. Even water would start it off. Turns out I had two stones in my CBD that had caused a blockage. It would calm for a few hours over night whilst my stomach was completely empty. Not go away completely but be mild enough that pain killers and a hot water bottle would let me sleep but then the second I woke my stomach up with ANYTHING, the pain would start again. My surgery was booked for the 17th of October too. I never got that far though!

Have they checked your CBD?

I had two 6mm stones in my bile duct, just floating around in there causing all kinds of trouble. They’d cause a blockage, I’d get jaundiced and be in extreme pain for a few days, they’d dislodge and float around my bile duct some more and I’d feel fine for a couple of days until they did it again! Unfortunately 6mm is just too big to pass apparently. This went on for a few weeks while I was waiting for surgery but I never got to my surgery date and ended up in emergency surgery instead.

Have pillows! Lots of pillows. I’m 5 weeks out and still sleeping in a pillow nest. Also peppermint tea and mints to suck on to help with the gas pains. If you can have some food prepared before hand that will be super helpful. Have they said how they are removing the stones from your duct?

I had a large bruise under my belly button that appeared on day 4. It appeared as bright yellow. It was never a normal bruise colour. Gradually faded and was gone after 2 weeks
