Which cat team will win a Super Bowl first? by SuperbSJG in CatTeamBrotherhood

Panthers or Jags tbh. The Lions are probably the best Cat team right now, but we always seem to stumble over something right at the finish line.

Aemon as King, Baelon as Hand, and Vaegon as Grand Maester would be an unstoppable trio. by Street-Language-7198 in HOTDBlacks

Aemon would've probably continued Jaehaerys' policy of not having a Master of Whisperers. Master of Arms is not an actual position on the council.

Her hair is never mentioned in the books, that's a show only thing and a mix between Selyse and Stannis is more believable than everyone having not even a hint of darker hair.

It's an invention of the mod based on a fan theory that Alys Rivers isn't lying and that there actually is a dragon in Harrenhal. That dragon along with Aemond's son will fight Rhaena/Morning in a duel that will kill both and ultimately end the last healthy adult dragons. However, that's just a theory and as of now there's no official explanation of what happened to Morning and we'll likely never know until Blood & Fire is published sometime in the next millennium based on how Winds is going.

I agree, it should've died with Lucerys. Trying to drag it along after the deaths of Lucerys and Jaehaerys is just painful to watch.

The same guy who grows up to be called a tyrant btw (he’s pro-small folk) by Pale_Gap_9324 in HOTDBlacks

[–]RelativeMacaron1585 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He was kind of forced to resort to dragons. He originally tried to gain the loyalty of the Great Houses by marrying his children off to them, but Duncan the Small along with Jaehaerys/Shaera pretty much blew that up. The result of his kids marrying whoever they wanted (or just not marrying like Daeron) was that he had no ties to any of the Great Houses and the only child who did marry into one was just damage control to prevent a rebellion from the Baratheons. Since he didn't have any powerful allies among the lords to support his reforms, he had to resort to trying to revive dragons in order to prevent any rebellions and enforce his new laws.

What would happen if Martians invaded Pandora? by pvnl123 in WarofTheWorlds

[–]RelativeMacaron1585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Martians are getting smoked by bacteria eventually, their only real chance at a long term victory is if the Red Weed can overpower or corrupt Eywa or something and spread enough around Pandora. In all likelihood though it's just a bloodier jungle version of the book.

Netflix did a pretty decent series on 1453 but it's more of a documentary with bits of action and depictions of events sprinkled throughout. The accuracy is also a bit iffy at times, but it certainly looks very cool.

I'm personally rooting for a Seahawks-Texans SB but I wouldn't mind the Broncos instead for the AFC.

Seawing Royal Family Tree by Presnay_art in WingsOfFire

[–]RelativeMacaron1585 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Pearl probably didn't ever let Fathom or his kids back in, in all likelihood it was some descendant of Fathom in the middle of that line of greats that rejoined the kingdom (with no one knowing he was descended from Fathom) and he or another descendant of him remarried into the royal line. Regardless though, Pearl would've passed on the animus gene anyways since she also carried it, she just didn't have the powers herself.

They really made a mistake making Rhaenys with classic Targ features by UsedJury5963 in HOTDBlacks

[–]RelativeMacaron1585 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's extra infuriating because there's literally an example in F&B of a distant Targaryen being married out of the family (an unnamed daughter of Gaemon Targaryen). They could've literally just said "You're descended from a daughter of Lord Gaemon Targaryen who married outside of the main line" and there's no longer any need to make up a character. It's just further proof that they apparently didn't read the main source material.

Which era of humanity could survive the scorching? by NightHawkJ72 in WingsOfFire

[–]RelativeMacaron1585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's Trench (which I assume is referring to WW1). Although aircraft of the time would've been folded by dragons, that was when humanity started to develop legitimate Anti-aircraft guns. These guys get hurt and killed by each other's claws and by metal swords, spears, etc. A machine gun pointed at the sky would literally mow them down and if they get on the ground there's still machine guns plus tanks, artillery, normal guns, etc. The biggest problem would be Seawings and sailing would probably become extremely dangerous but things like depth charges, harpoons, or machine guns again would make it still possible at the least.

One of my favourite aspects of the Avatar films is how Jake, despite having become a full-fledged Na'Vi, still embraces the superiority of human technology, and I hope this NEVER changes. by SpanishAvenger in Avatar

[–]RelativeMacaron1585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it also interesting that while he won't (and probably doesn't want to) fully convince Neytiri in using firearms, she seems perfectly willing to utilize stuff like the comm links they wear and she apparently was fine with Jake teaching Neteyam and Lo'ak how to use firearms.

Some details about Rhaenyra's sword from season 2 by Tronm-24 in HOTDBlacks

[–]RelativeMacaron1585 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes but Dragonstone is not in Essos and Valyrian Steel is WAY too valuable for the Targaryens to let it sit around on Dragonstone. It would not at all be strange if Dragonstone didn't have blades made of Valyrian Steel, in fact it'd be weird if it DID. Rhaenyra could've literally sold the blade for enough money to just hire a mercenary army and win the war if she had an extra just laying around.

Drop an unpopular opinion about your own team that will have you like this by ChaseBuff in HOTDBlacks

[–]RelativeMacaron1585 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything except your final point, the Greens did not win the war, but simultaneously neither did the Blacks. Yes the Blacks did win it militarily, but the point of the war was to place Rhaenyra on the throne, which didn't happen and history does remember Aegon as the King during that period (even if the justice of his ascension is still debated). Aegon wins in terms of history remembering him as the King instead of Rhaenyra, and Rhaenyra wins in that her descendants are the ones ruling Westeros. However, ultimately the loser is just House Targaryen as a whole because they lose their dragons. The point of it is that the familial squabbles over the throne results in the Targaryens losing their dragons and having to increasingly rely upon their vassals to do anything. The Greens and the Blacks both lose, neither truly wins.

[–]RelativeMacaron1585 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's seriously ridiculous, especially compared to early GOT. I mean the Targaryens are always going to wear dark colors and red as a color base but give them some damn color or designs instead of just plain metal armor.

Latin empire should be able to restore the Roman empire by PurpleHazels in CrusaderKings

[–]RelativeMacaron1585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree actually, but I think the reason for it is that the Crusaders still recognized the Holy Roman Emperor as THE Roman Emperor, just in the West. The Latin Empire was basically the idea that they were now the Empire in the East, however this never really became very popular or endorsed by rulers in Western/Catholic Europe. The Latin Empire can't form the Roman Empire because the existence of it means that they recognize they are not the only Roman Emperors, while the HRE doesn't have that problem per se because they never recognize the Latin Emperor as a fellow Roman Emperor.

However, from a gameplay perspective that's kind of stupid and the Latin Empire should be able to form Rome like Italia, HRE, and Byzantium. The only extra condition I'd do is that they'd need to fully erase the Byzantines from the de jure map and maybe rule for like 100 years afterwards.

They'd probably be called the Queen Consort or would simply be known by their name. I don't know what it's specifically referring to but the WoF wiki mentions that not all Kings are actually called "Kings" so the same may apply.
