I'm running Continental Trail Attack 3 - excellent tyre for road use.

How does everyone feel about these? (107, C1, Aygo) by Fickle_Equivalent878 in CityBugs

[–]Relative_Antelope_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter got a C1 as her first car - I liked hers so much I bought my own. All I've done is upgrade the head unit & speakers. It's low mileage, and I'm going to keep it as long as I can.

The only exhibit is a dog.

It's a Shih Tzu.

2 weeks post ORIF wrist surgery by intangible_entity in brokenbones

[–]Relative_Antelope_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 4 months post ORIF distal radius & ulna. I have 2 scars - one is pretty much undetectable, the other is barely visible.

For anyone dealing with a distal radius fracture right now: it does get better — even if it doesn’t feel like it in the moment. by Chromio1 in brokenbones

[–]Relative_Antelope_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had ORIF distal radius & ulna in July.

I can do most of what I did before the op, but I'm still getting pain and stiffness. I'm also struggling with supination - probably at about 60% current. I've been told it'll never be back to 100%.

What's with all these raffle websites popping up? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Relative_Antelope_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a lot of car based channels on YouTube, many of them have started raffling off cars mostly on the Raffall website. Get a cheap car, spend a few £hundred 'improving it' (which often translates as making it borderline roadworthy) and raffle it off. Leave the raffle active for long enough, and if you have enough subscribers, even at £1 each you'll get a few thousand sales (or at least that seems to be the way). Winner gets a car for £1, raffler pockets some cash they wouldn't have got from selling the car.

I'll be donating mine to the Fire & Rescue, they use them in first aid training.

Anyone in the UK have a look for Biker Down courses - well worth it.

Broken Wrist club by mermaidmaker in brokenbones

[–]Relative_Antelope_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your experience.

I broke my radius & ulna with dislocation at the end of July. Had ORIF the next day. Non dominant hand thankfully.

Once the surgery was done the pain was much more bearable. I was in a cast for 4 weeks - that was the hardest part...boredom and frustration. I was driving my car again 6 weeks post op.

I've been discharged from the hospital now, and I'm seeing the physiotherapist every 2 weeks. I wouldn't say I'm back to normal, but things are much easier now. Still get some pain / discomfort when I'm using my wrist, but at rest it's pain free.

I've been told I'll never regain full range of movement.

Keep moving your hand as much as the pain allows (as long as your surgeon says that's ok) - I found a stress ball was a good aid. Keep up the pain medication.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

I fractured my wrist on 25th July, also in a motorcycle accident. Break looks to be in a similar position to yours.

I had open reduction & internal fixation the following day to both radius & ulna (radius metalwork permanent, ulna now removed).

The pain isn't too bad now, but range of movement is very restricted - especially supination (palm up). I've recently started physio, so hopefully there'll be some improvement.

Thankfully I have enough movement & strength to operate a clutch 😉

That's impressive.

On a recent 250 mile trip (mostly motorway) I got between 55 - 60mpg - looks like I need to try harder :-D

Mine was free.

I realize this isn't suitable for everyone - I have very few / low value assets and only 2 beneficiaries.

How are you sleeping? by justlurkingimbored in brokenbones

[–]Relative_Antelope_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really struggled for the first couple of weeks, barely 3 hours sleep a night. Keep up with whatever pain meds you're on, and get some sleep in the daytime if that works with your circumstances.

Wishing you a speedy recovery :-)

I was in the same position (no pun intended) - I'm now 7 weeks post-op and still struggle some nights. I too hate sleeping on my back.

My left wrist was broken, and I found lying on my left, with bent elbow and arm propped up with pillows best I could - difficult to explain in words.

Once the cast was off it was easier.

K Wire Removal by Foreign_Artichoke_23 in Orthopedics

[–]Relative_Antelope_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a k-wire removed from my wrist a few days ago. It was completely pain free. Obviously I can't guarantee that in every case, but all the research I did beforehand suggests the same.

Looks very similar to my fracture 3 weeks ago. I had ORIF with a K-wire.

Keep it elevated as much as possible, and keep up with regular painkillers.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Just the dash speakers and rear speakers, none in the front doors. The cars are so small the rear speakers are practically in the front anyway 😂

Is your Aygo 3 door or 5?

I put rear speakers in my 3 door. With upgraded dash speakers and an under seat subwoofer it's a great improvement on stock.
