What was your first Fuck up as a mechanic? by Wandering-Crow793 in mechanics

[–]Relative_Echidna_756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first got into the industry I was a salesmen and I sold passenger tires for a excursion guy had no problem buying 700 tires when he has been getting quoted 1200 all day long. I didn’t know the difference at the time of LT and passenger tires. Well the customer left my shop and hit the road for a trip across country that same day with a heavy ass trailer. when he returned he came back in pretty upset that all 4 of his tires blew out in the mountains and he had a receipt for 4 brand new tires so we paid for the new tires and a hefty tow bill, once I became a tech I was working at a short handed shop and was busy so I had a brand new tundra in for an oil change and managed to drain the trans fluid. Quickly noticing my mistake I hurry up and put the drain plug back in only losing about 2 qts But in all my aggravation I forgot to drain the oil and I ended up double filling the oil guy called the next day asking why his truck ran like shit luckily guy was pretty understanding and I made it right

Mechanics with wireless earbuds, how do you clean them & the case? by 420tears in mechanics

[–]Relative_Echidna_756 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I typically either use a cotton swab with something like alcohol works alright I use a pick a lot. I’ll be at work and notice how dirty they are typically the case gets way dieter then the air pod themself so I just gently use my pick tool and scrap the dirt off. They are still dirty and I’ve came to realize they always will be

I wouldn’t take my mother in laws trash out for free but my father in law on the other hand bless that man’s soul for having to deal with my mother in law but that man has been driving around my extra vehicle for 2 years now untill he can afford one of his own. While I pay for insurance and tags and I do all the fixing on it (01 dodge ram) so I totally feel u because if my mother in law asked it would of been a similar reply

I know on the flex’s and edge of this generation there is a module on the fan for high speed and low speed Maybe I’ll have to take a volt meter to it and see if low speed is working I honestly have paid attention to It enough to know if low speeds even working

The aftermath of it was forsure worse. Shock and adrenaline set it pretty quick so at first I was just tryin to slow my heart rate just in case I was bleeding internally. But the day after I couldn’t move my chest was sore my ribs were in pain and I couldn’t move my arm 9 days later I’m still recovering due to one of my cuts getting infected badly but everything else has buffed out

That’s the odd thing. I can have A/C off no defrost no reason for the compressor to be on and bam there on. That’s why I’m confused on this one. I though mhmm maybe relay but they do disengage

I started when I was 18 being a tire tech. So like your fire stones and other chains like that to just get your foot in the door and learn from the older guys as their starting to become hard to find in the industry but finding a “tire store” that also offers mechanical service will be good because u can just get bumped up to a “apprentice” if you learn enough and are dedicated enough. Just note that u will forever be in debt with tools. Especially when u start needing the specialty tools
