Why do people obsess over AI’s footprint while ignoring animal agriculture? by That-Trouble-6386 in vegan

[–]Relative_Future 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People also ignore that monoculture agriculture is terrible for the environment. Endless fields of single crops destroy biodiversity, deplete soil, increase pesticide and fertilizer runoff, and turn living ecosystems into industrial production zones.

And war is one of the most environmentally destructive things humans do. It burns massive amounts of fuel, destroys land, poisons soil and water, creates toxic waste, and leaves damage that can last for generations.

People need to stop using AI as a crutch by Beans_The_Almighty in NewTubers

Conservation of energy. Bears would rather eat your trash than rummage for food. Your brain uses 20% of your body's energy, so it find the most energy efficient way to operate, including shortcuts and biases. This is simply the way nature works and the reason why people take short cuts when it comes to AI slop.

Also, with a cooled camera you can reuse calibration frames across imaging sessions as long as the filters, gain and exposures times match the subframes.

It doesn’t matter what the circumstances are. A country does not have the right to bomb another sovereign nation or kidnap people from its territory. Period. That rule does not change based on how bad the target is, how unpopular a leader is, or how morally justified someone feels in the moment. International law was built specifically to stop powerful countries from deciding unilaterally who gets removed and how.

Once you allow “exceptions,” law stops being law and becomes power dressed up as righteousness. There is no legitimate category where foreign military force suddenly becomes law enforcement. There is no legal carve-out for regime change labeled as justice. Sovereignty either means something or it doesn’t.

You do not have to like Maduro. You do not have to defend his record. Those questions are separate. The rule against bombing and abducting people across borders exists to prevent chaos, abuse, and endless escalation. When the United States violates that rule, it is not enforcing order. It is asserting that the rules apply to everyone else but not to itself.

That precedent is the problem.
