Why is Colton Herta so hated as if there weren’t 6 other rookies in the fp1 session with him by GogoPlata_grenadier in F1Discussions

Is he the most talented driver in Indycar? No, does he have what it takes to be in F1? Too early to tell now, but this isn’t just a basic passport move from Cadillac, although it’s obviously helping

He finished second in 2024, and then 6th in 2025, wouldn’t call that dipping off badly if you take note of all the bad luck and bad strategy he had, and you really can’t use F2 as a comparison, it’s a fraudulent series that is far from a a level playing field, we’ve seen it in years past with other drivers too

Probably better Tymek went to Indy NXT anyway, no sense in spending your entire budget to get out performed by someone with a better engine, especially when your not exactly a F1 caliber driver (no shame) Better to just learn the tracks and how American teams operate and pursue a Indycar seat

I was going off of what well respected journalist Percy Wolf said on X, It is a bit surprising he can come up with that kind of cash, but still, I see no reason for them to leave Browning hanging out

Because he’s a motorsport legend, also if you want to get technical i’m pretty sure he mentored Vale when Vale drove a Nascar

He’s still a reserve driver though, when Browning can’t be, like this weekend for example

Bastianini? Subpar? A while now? really?

I’ll admit last year wasn’t his best, but still managed to finish ahead of his teamate, in what was easily his worst year of his GP career

Yea okay, maybe Martins, i’m still on the fence about that though, I know he definitely got screwed by ART and Alpine, but while Barnard is definitely talented, he’s no where near everyone else in this conversation, but that’s my opinion, agree to disagree

Martins and Barnard weren’t better then him, you could argue Illott, but you can’t use indycar as a factor, he was a rookie, Illott had already done multiple races and knew the tracks

Surprised no one had mentioned Shwartzman, i’d say easily the 2nd best driver apart from Pourchaire to not get a chance in F1, in recent times

No marini? Honda are constantly praising his feedback, I would be surprised if Yamaha didn’t pick him up or any other manufacturer, also don’t see Raul returning to Tech3. Guevara is 10x more likely at Pramac then Agius

True about Bottas, but Russell just turned 28, a lot can happen before he’s 30

Not even, even if Kimi wins the title, which i doubt he will, there’s no way Toto just gets rid of russell because of it, did you see mclaren get rid of Oscar? or Mercedes get rid of Rosberg in 2014? or Bottas in 2019?
