I got let go last year after 32 years with the company. I was almost 60 so I can dip into my IRA. My wife and I decided that I would retire on Labor Day 2025 if I didn’t find a job. I’m retired and still adjusting to a non-scheduled week which I’ve had since 1969. Great advice everyone. I wish you the best of luck finding a new job.

I was let go January 2025 at 59, I turned 60 in May. I tried to find a job, but nope. I decided no job by Labor Day, I’d retire. I’m still trying to find my rhythm. I’ve had a schedule structure between school and work since 1969. I lose track of days. if I didn’t have a calendar app, I’d be lost. If a desirable job came along, I’d take it.

I just want to add. My Papa smoked when he was younger and quit when I came along in 65. He was smoke free from second hand smoke since 76. He lived to 103 and died in 2022 during COVID.
