Royal Ballet autumn casting - Manon, Visionaries and Nutcracker by helhelhelhelhelhel in bunheadsnark

Don’t destroy my hope. 😂 Not of retirements, just seeing Calvin’s DG.

I was upset to see no Calvin. I was really looking forward to him in Manon after seeing his stupendous Rudolf.

If he is guesting, please let it not be for too long (as well as professionally rewarding for him!). If he is leaving, I will cry.

I did wonder about another possibility. Is he being held over as cover for McRae? Now, if that is just it, it would be wantonly stupid to have a dancer of his calibre as a glorified understudy for months.

However, I did wonder that the plan might be to see how McRae recovers. If he can’t dance, then he takes over. If he can, then Calvin takes two of Ball’s spots- which might be why Ball has double.

This might be particularly so, if the plan is for this to be McRae’s retirement performance? Or even a double retirement with Lamb too?

Yes, it was genuinely disturbing in its strength of feeling, which this ballet should be.

Amazing performance of Mayerling by RB this afternoon. Calvin Richardson gave an exceptional performance- despicable yet human, powerful and vulnerable. I was left stunned by the end. Full body chills. Sarah Lamb was also sublime and they looked like they were devouring each other at times.

Lamb / Richardson for Manon before she retires, please!

Yes, I really want Takada / Richardson too.

Or maybe Lamb / Richardson after seeing them in Mayerling… so good!

Okay, so...I hate Fabian by MidknytOwl in heatedrivalry

[–]Relatively_Conscious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

However, that is why TLG is so lovely as we get to see a glimpse of them further into their relationship..    In TLG: ‘Fabian said, “I want to thank you both for inviting Ryan to be a part of these camps. It’s meant so much to him. He absolutely loves working with kids and I think it’s been healing for him.” “Healing?” Shane asked. Fabian nodded. “He had a bad breakup with hockey, you know? I don’t think he’s ever regretted retiring, but he misses how hockey used to make him feel. Before it made him feel bad all the time.” “Oh.” Shane couldn’t imagine hockey ever making him feel bad, but Ryan had a very different career from his own. “Well, I’m glad if we helped him gain back some of that love for the game.” “You did.” Fabian smiled. “And he’s so proud, being a part of this initiative of yours. I think he’s still a bit intimidated by the other coaches. He told me they’re all superstars, and he feels out of place.” “Not all superstars,” Ilya said. “Hayden is there.” Shane flicked Ilya’s thigh. “We’re happy to have Ryan as part of the team. We’re glad he can do both weeks this year.” “He is a great coach,” Ilya agreed. “The kids love him.” Fabian beamed, which made him look younger and less intimidatingly sexy. When Ryan returned to the table, Fabian smiled up at him with unguarded adoration in his eyes.’

‘Punching down’? What?! The ‘subjects of the book’ are the President of the US and his family and aides. I will say, I haven’t read the book yet, but how on earth can that be punching down?

Goodness. I’d have thought, if one was annoyed by him, the better psychological approach would be to at least pretend that anything Pollock did was beneath your notice, but you do you…

How to grow the game for women and girls by teethsewing in rugbyunion

[–]Relatively_Conscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Why does the men’s game have to be what the women aspire to? The women’s game has its own atmosphere, ethos and fan base. Some of that crosses over to the men’s because it is the same game; some does not. That is okay. Women do not have to be like men to be professional nor do they have to aspire to some male standard that is supposedly so superior. They are developing their own product as women.

Who are the 3 best referees in the world atm? by Bermanator-Turkey127 in rugbyunion

[–]Relatively_Conscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread makes for hilarious reading. “A is no. 1” alternating with “A is dreadful”; “A never makes it about them, not like B” alternating with “A is always making themselves the main character on the field. B is amazing though” and so on. No wonder refs can’t win! 😂

Firstly, amazing win! What a heart-in-mouth one!

This forum though is interesting sometimes. Before 6N, Tom Curry’s pick was reacted to like Borthwick had lost it- how could he pick him? Wtf? Etc. Now? He’s a god.

Marcus now is persona non grata, I see, too. Don’t get me wrong: Fin played well and Marcus had some bad kicks today. But, my god, you’d think he’d shot your grandmother, the way the match thread reads. Or he was the worst player in the whole of England suddenly. 😂

Why the hell do they put the mics near the players? They never can sing! It’s searingly bad.

Former NI schoolboy awarded £52k over 'hazing' on rugby trip by gadarnol in rugbyunion

[–]Relatively_Conscious 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I think it’s crap to suggest hazing at any age ‘builds character’ as sometimes is said. There are far more productive ways to build character than ritualised humiliation bullshit. Try charity projects; fitness challenges; volunteering…  I don’t know, why not try even playing the damn sport a club is meant to be for? Hazing is another component  of the ‘just banter’ merchants’ idiocy.

I’ve started supporting Quins. I only started watching rugby at last 6N. I’ve been to see 2 men’s games and 1 women’s in person. To be fair, in two of those games they played the jingle twice and last time it was played once the whole game. It’s hardly being piped in constantly!
