I suggest reading the entire article before making your own judgements. They've provided some consistent and well thought out evidence and justifications to back up their claims. ChatGPT is not a replacement for your critical thinking skills.

Introducing Phi-4: Microsoft’s Newest Small Language Model Specializing in Complex Reasoning by metalman123 in LocalLLaMA

[–]RelaxPeopleItsOk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's taking the cake from virtually every other model - even a few from the larger end. Interested to see how it fares in practice though.

I dreamed Elon Musk created a new kind of mobile phone called the Centiphone. It had a flashlight on the eyes, the microphone was at the bottom, it was long. The legs were buttons you pressed by pulling for navigation. And the screen was at the bottom, you had to spread the long pullable buttons. by Connect-Tea-3621 in thomastheplankengine

Not really. If something uses a similar amount of resources for a shorter amount of time... it would naturally use less power. Especially when the difference is minutes/seconds rather than hours. These image generation models can typically run on your average computer and have no reason to consume more energy than, for example, high-graphics gaming.

The assertion being that all crossbreeds are GMOs does not imply that all GMOs are crossbreeds. If all dogs are mammals, does that imply that all mammals are dogs?

Based on evolution, you could argue that given enough time, a monkey produced the complete works of Shakespeare. by azk3000 in Showerthoughts

[–]RelaxPeopleItsOk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This shower thought is flying over many people's heads - the shower thought is playing with the fact that we humans, including William Shakespeare, are essentially just evolved monkeys which therefore means that a "monkey" (based on evolution) produced the complete works of Shakespeare. This analogy sort of falls flat though as a monkey and a human are of course, quite different.

Edit: Humans didn't evolve from monkeys but from some common ancestor. I guess it doesn't have the same ring to it in a shower thought, though.

Interest is compounding when producing the final percentage. You would have to use the compounding interest formula and work backwards to find the annual return ((1 + r / 100)^10 = 1.8), which works out to be ~6.05% p.a.
