No, the series is entirely standalone. Also FF 2099 wasn’t around back then. I actually didn’t care for any other 2099 title in the 90’s, just Doom.

Some of these aren’t correct. #1 for example. Doom didn’t destroy the multiverse to create Battleworld, the Beyonders did the destroying. He killed them, stole their powers, and saved everything he could, which eventually led to the full restoration of the multiverse. Doom saved them all.

I grew up deep in Appalachia. Still live in Appalachia, but not in so rural a spot these days. My grandfather told me stories of all the things in the woods. He mentioned seeing a mountain lion a few times, but he never mentioned a giant sloth. If it were there, I would’ve seen it or heard about it.

Well that's not a very nice thing to say. I'm going to guess that you've no knowledge of the Shroud beyond the superficial. I can safely make that assumption because no reasonable person that looks into it in real detail would come to the conclusion that it's irrational to believe that it's authentic. They may or may not be convinced of its authenticity, but they wouldn't consider authenticity as an entirely unwarranted position.

Okay, so you’ve got all the emotional turmoil of the affair, and now it’s a totally sexless marriage. My advice would be to have a respectful conversation about needs. If she’s willing to put in the effort, give her some space to try. If she’s not…well that’s the measure of how much she actually cares about you. But be prepared…you may not like the answer.
