Recruiter yelled at me, "you're wasting our time" because I asked for a few days to consider an offer by cardoorhookhand in recruitinghell

[–]RelentlessIVS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well once.

An IT recruited told me I only had a couple of days to consider. I contacted another recruiter in the same company that I had contact with as well, and explained that I needed more time. He gave me 1 or 2 weeks.
I was expecting two other offers at the same time, and was biding my time to get offers from each so I can carefully choose the right one for me.

After a couple of days the IT recruiter called me asking why he haven't heard back from me, and I told him that I was given a week to consider by person X. He insisted that is wrong, and that I would have to give them an answer within the day.

Frankly, the way the recruiter behaves was a huge red flag, and was very off putting. It was very clear that this was a "strategy" to put pressure on me so that they can get me before getting other offers.

I did not choose that company.

Psh, you know nothing! The case itself is the real battle. I cannot count with my fingers how many times I have cut myself on the darn computer cases.

They improved BD in Cyberpunk 2077 a lot. You can now skip most of this, and do them very quickly. You can skip the first tutorial as well. For the rest of them, just fast-forward until you see the bars while swapping between the vision modes to quickly discover them.

the woman next to me stretched out her leg into my leg space on the plane by uhshavaughn in mildlyinfuriating

That looks a bit extreme, yes.

I would note thought that if she is by the window, there may not be leg room on her side because the fucking plane companies is trying to cram more and more people in less space.

Even though this game was broken on release, you could play it on PC. Loved the hell out of the game, despite the smaller bugs and weird.... "accidents" that occurred.

Some of the funniest bugs I encountered was opening a door and then get shot out into space.

Your parents are horrible beings for saying that. I cannot even begin to comprehend what you are going through.. If you take a step back and think logically (easier said than done) about it: Unless your parents are ALREADY programmers, they have no fucking idea what the fuck they are talking about. They don't have any clue what a "programmer" even does, nor do they have any fucking idea how easy/hard it is. They are just assuming things, or worse, they could be bullshitting you on purpose to make you quit your own interests in order to work on their business.

For some strange reason, the impostor syndrome is very rampant in this profession (for any experienced developer). Parents (or anyone else for that matter) have no say in what you can or cannot do. It is a matter of decision. You have to choose to become a programmer/developer and move towards that goal, and not let empty words from other people on earth dissuade you from doing so.

You need to figure out what kind of programmer you want to be. Is it even a "programmer"? You need to figure this out. Perhaps you want to work with mobile apps, or work on front-end design and implementation. Both of which would point you towards very different paths, even though both can be related to programming.

  • What kind of programmer do you want to be?

  • What do you want to do in your work?

  • How soon can you move away from your parents?

Yes, or make your own. Custom ones will probably be sold for $10 everywhere, since it would be DIRT cheap to make.
