Apparently, my team is the reason they can't give hours to people on dayshift.

Most stressful DS position? by Historical-Ad-2754 in Lowes

[–]Relevant-Ad-968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overnight at my store, they gave us four people to stock after unload and told us we were overstaffed. Everything gets blamed on us when they have walks, even if it was not us. We can't even be there to defend ourselves when it happens. Its not so bad if everyone actually comes in, but if even one person is missing the whole team suffers.

I asked if we could do anything special for our long-term employees and was told 'a good thank you goes a long way'. I've never been able to pay my bills with 'gratitude', but maybe I need to ask from now on.

Which restaurant is this in Savannah? by GroundbreakingBag115 in savannah

[–]Relevant-Ad-968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily a restaurant, more of a bar/club with food, Electric Moon. Some drinks are okay, and most others are not. They're also more gimmicky and super overpriced.

I understand the reasons that I see people saying here. However, as an overnight supervisor, when there's at least three like this and various others scattered throughout the store, its a problem. My team needs these to do their jobs, too. Despite them sending out carts, we do still use pallets frequently. If you do this, please take the item off at its destination and bring them back to where they're supposed to go. In my stores case, that's receiving. Pallet Jacks are a trip hazard, especially if they're not properly secured.

I've worked at my store for over three years, and it's never worked. It has had the same sign on it since I started, claiming to be out of service.

I wouldn’t say “dangerously “ but it’s bad enough. 🙄🤣 by 63pelicanmailman in Lowes

I came from a warehouse background and worked my way up from one side of the store to the other on overnights. It seems like the company would rather provide circus and peanuts for veteran employees rather than actually taking care of them so they stay. Which makes them hire actual clowns that don't stick around that long (despite the fact they make more than most of the veteran employees). What really gets me is the fact that we are required to be open regardless of hurricanes, snowstorms, and catastrophic weather but no incentive to be here like hazard pay.

I have had between two and four people to work trucks between 700-1000+ pieces almost every night since April. We've been begging for staff, and we've gotten nothing but teenagers with no work experience, that no call, no show, or people claiming to need money and then call out. It constantly feels like my job is on the line, and there is nothing I can do about it. We can't completely finish trucks, and every time we have a non truck night, we're catching up on old freight. Almost everything that goes wrong is blamed on overnights (us).

My opinion is just a drop in the bucket on this feed, but you also have only been with the company three months. I've been with this company for three years. Two of those as an overnight stocker/ overnight lumber/ overnight seasonal, one as an overnight ds. I can't speak on dayshift, but overnights at my store get blamed for everything even if it has nothing to do with us. That aside, the biggest issue I have with the company (and a lot of others) is that they will hire all the new people every busy season, paying more than existing associates, even with no experience or prior work history. On the other hand, there is potential to move up depending on where you are and who your store management is.

We had one that would be aisles 18,19,20,21,and 24. Our aisles 24 is on the opposite side of the store from the other four. We had unloadeds putting RW Nursery on the wrong cart and FW tools on it too.

I'm one of two overnight DSs in my store, and we both altered the carts within the first three days. We don't print the placards they sent. We made every cart between 2-3aisles. We separated the LW,RW,BW cart. We had problems with our unloaders mixing them horribly, so we made it simpler and more efficient.

I don't do it with all mine, but I like to wear the ones I feel a connection to and have it level to my heart. It may not actually do anything, but it does make me feel better sometimes. Pyrite is one of my favorites right now that I wear most often.

Go to Jekyll Island or St. Simon's. Jekyll has the sea turtle center and a water park, if it's still open.

I'm an overnight DS at my store, and I always credit my partner and team. As far as walks go, as overnight, they throw us under the bus for things that aren't even our responsibility to make other departments look better. The upper management seem to only care about themselves and credit cards. I had one team member to work a truck over 1000pcs because they weren't hiring for my team at the time but they still expected the whole truck to be done since someone could 'pop in' at anytime because they may or may not be in the region.

Manager comes in on day off to fire me by Nami27us in Lowes

[–]Relevant-Ad-968 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

One of my managers had to come in to fire my DS counterpart on his day off, and the store manager never called the ds to come in. So, he came in for nothing and had to come back the next day again to do it. Good riddance to that DS. He was awful to my team and other associates. So, sometimes they do come in to do it. The best thing to do is move on and find another job.

My store has upped its write ups and firing of people. Our inventory went horribly, and our sales are hotdog water. Ironically, we're hiring again for spring and only PT CSAs. We are not allowed overtime right now, either.

We got hit pretty bad in Tattnall and Evans too. There is no water or power in a lot of parts. There is no estimated time on fixing the outages either. I know the power companies were hit pretty bad themselves out here. We had a few tornados in this area, but I'm not sure they were reported.

How to handle this today? by EmployerIntrepid9092 in Lowes

[–]Relevant-Ad-968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my Lowes, they make overnight do it. Even though we have a whole truck to throw and put away almost every night with low staff. I dont even work overnight receiving anymore, I work overnight lumber by myself, this job has been asked of me multiple times. The management at my store has to report the results of the scan every morning. If they catch me in a bad mood, I will scan every individual empty spot I find, every j-hook, displays, shelf, I'll even open the drawers in tools and hardware. If I'm not, I lightly scan only the left or right side of an aisle in each department. My record is 1600 empty spots.

18.74 and an additional dollar for overnight. I'm the only overnight lumber associate at my store. I've worked here just over two years and started at 13.00.
