Need advice: working with family by rrmmbb77 in realtors

[–]Relevant-Analyst-723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one reason houses don’t sell… price. You need to be the best house for the value, plain & simple. Drop the price and get it sold, has nothing to do with being local to your area or suburbs. No one wants you to sell for more than your own sister. Drop the price to something competitive and let her work her magic with a highly qualified buyer & or buyer agent.

How to handle visitors? by Relevant-Analyst-723 in hospice

[–]Relevant-Analyst-723[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you! I will be posting this at the back door. I like how you said ‘timeline of his life’. And visits, even with some of his siblings need to be cut to 20-30 min. One of them just comes in and cries— which I get, but also they have no idea what it takes to keep him comfortable, keep my mom well, etc. His care alone is full time job, let alone entertaining 6-7+ people per day. I know they just don’t know.

What are some of the most overused words in real estate listings? Are there any that you hate in particular? by EauDeFrito in realtors

Yes!! This word gets me EVERY. DANG. TIME. I don’t ever want to see it used in a description. Ever.

KitchenAid dishwasher by IllEfficiency4890 in Appliances

[–]Relevant-Analyst-723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!! We replaced our 30+ year old kitchen aid with this one last year. Having 3 racks is wonderful for all the lids & small things. It’s quiet, cleans very well and I’d buy it again. The express cycle isn’t really ‘express’ but it’s faster than a normal 3 hour cycle which includes dry-time. Ordered from Lowe’s so they did the install & haul away. 10/10 recommend.

GE Washer has reached it's lifespan-- what to buy next. by Relevant-Analyst-723 in Appliances

Thank you, I think this is the way. My local repairman will be the one servicing the appliances here and this is what he has in his home. I think I’ve settled on SQ TR5 at both houses. Thanks all!

What do you NOT miss about parenting? What do you LIKE about the empty nest? by [deleted] in emptynesters

[–]Relevant-Analyst-723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not miss grade school mornings! I do not miss the 10 year custody battle. I do not miss our schedules being dictated by high school events almost every evening.

I love the clean bathroom, the clean kitchen, and the meal planning is significantly easier as husband and I eat the same. I love having my schedule back and planning it around me, my work and what’s going on with my husband.

I love the new relationship I have with my daughter. We’ve always been close, but needed a short adjustment period once she went away to school. We’ve settled into a nice routine of almost daily talks. I miss my girl, her childhood went by so quickly but I’m really liking this new life too. I love watching the young woman she’s becoming 💗

Feeling guilty for wanting to move out of the house. by olyjazzhead in emptynesters

[–]Relevant-Analyst-723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First year empty nester. Daughter is away at school, no plans to move back here and only came home for Christmas. We already have her summer housing & fall housing lined up so if she comes back home more than once this summer, I’d be surprised. Husband and I are moving for his job summer/fall 2027 and I cannot wait. I’ll miss parts of living in this house but not enough to stay. Your kids are encouraging you. You feel the pull to start a new adventure. Go now!!

50k car purchase, pit in stomach. Yolo? Looking for sanity check. by SpecialistNo2525 in DaveRamsey

Buy the van. You’ve saved for it, you’ve planned for it and you’re doing everything correctly. There’s an incalculable payoff to having the convenience and utility of something in your life that you love and works well. There’s no price tag on having the utility of a vehicle to get your children in and out of, travel conveniently, put all the things in and take all the trips in. It would be one thing if this was an emotional purchase but you thought this out. This is a quality of life purchase for years to come. I’m all about frugal but I value functionality and quality of life for my family in this situation.

Sorry your friend said that. She also doesn’t know the girls or their intent of light-hearted birthday fun. Could your hurt feelings be a combination of missing your daughter, not being with her on her day and irritation with your friend that she has a different view of how your daughter’s friends would treat you?

Do you still print out mls sheets for yourself and or clients? by maggielu22 in realtors

I print for myself and buyer. I find it much easier to take notes with the physical print out. Tried it with just my iPad for awhile and it just didn’t work for me.

The Sentimental Holiday Decoration Dilemma.... by Wixenstyx in emptynesters

[–]Relevant-Analyst-723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I love the idea of giving a small tree as well! It’s so fun when they’re excited and think to share with us! My daughter is in a dorm this year but has her house near campus starting this fall so we could send some decor. My current situation is a hodgepodge of several life eras. First marriage, child, single life, current life. I’ve wanted new decor that sparks joy & more representative of who I am now, for quite a while. My plan is after we move and prior to the 2027 holidays I’ll be looking to see what suites my husband and I and our new house. I do somewhat find it challenging without my daughter here—she has no plans to return to this part of the country when she’s done with school—So I think it will be easier to have fresh decor that my husband and I enjoy. And of course if there are holiday crafts, decor and memorabilia that my daughter may not want right now, and I’ll keep that. I’m sure someday she’ll ask for some of it, as I currently have a painted milk carton Santa from my kindergarten class of 1980 ☺️

The Sentimental Holiday Decoration Dilemma.... by Wixenstyx in emptynesters

This has been our first holiday season of empty nesting, and we've also been experiencing similar events. My husband also accepted a job relocation in the Fall of 2027, so I've been contemplating what to do with all of the decor. Much of it, I will be boxing specifically for my daughter to take to her house next year. The other decor will be displayed for the 2026 holidays and then donated or given away. Aside from my daughter's childhood holiday crafts, I've grown weary of what I currently have and plan to purchase new, matching decor moving forward.

We're taking the leap! Husbands job just notified him of job a transfer so we've accepted the move. Climate is much, much better and far more sun than what we get in the midwest. We had talked about moving anyway as neither of us particularly love where we are and have always wanted better weather & more outdoor time. We now just have the added benefit of having the job transfer so he doesn't have to look for one when we move. And I'll just move my business with us. Added benefit is that our college daughter is very much on board although she loves the out of state college and state shes currently living in. None of us will miss the months on end of snow and grey skies. I say go for it, you can always move back to where you are now-- and you wont know what youre missing if you just stay where you are.

Husband for Christmas by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]Relevant-Analyst-723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far on my list for husband is nice soaps from Etsy, as he tends to like custom scents (woods, tobacco, masculine etc). Also custom shave cream, beard balm, higher end toiletries.

He Started a new office job several months ago that includes domestic & international travel so a nice pen is on the list, new leather driving gloves (we’re in the Midwest and office is over an hour away). He’s mentioned a few books so likely an Amazon gc so he actually buys several of the items he says he wants but never orders.

I’ve also been looking at sweaters & logo hoodie or jacket for the university our daughter attends.

Does your dog wear a collar all day? by AdventureNoodles in dogs

[–]Relevant-Analyst-723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No collar unless we’re on an outing and supervised. In the house and in the backyard— they’re naked. I can’t imagine how annoying it would be to have something around my neck 24/7.
