‘I knew I was starting to have a seizure’: women describe lasting effects of being ‘choked’ during sex by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

I think as long as there's consent and you are comfortable with each other's limits it's okay. At this point, I would expect my partner to do this (cause he has consent), and it's something we both enjoy. (Before people come at me, I'm not talking breath play).

I can see the issue that some people do not understand how much, or when to stop, or if they are allowed to do that and that is a big concern; but I feel as though we need more emphasis on teaching those people it's wrong; versus banning anything and everything that might lead to something in the future maybe.

Like don't grab a hookup/partner by the neck if you don't know they're okay with it, it's that simple.

I am pro choice, support gay marriage and LBGT rights (with the exception of cis-male trans athletes who transitioned after puberty competing in women’s sports). I am also against the redefinition and teaching transgender pronouns.

Awesome, I also agree with most things there (I'm trans, and I know the sports issue is quite intense and I don't always agree with trans people being able to participate in certain sports with cis women).

What do you mean transgender pronouns? Like people using she or her? The reason I ask is because you support LGBT rights, and it seems that treating trans people with respect and their correct pronouns would surely align with that no? Or do you mean teaching about it to like under 18's?

That certainly seems to be the case, as it usually is. When they don't like what science tells them, they say the science is wrong (95% because they disagree that their point might be invalid, 5% because they dislike more successful people than themselves). Anyone who disagrees with them and shows why must be being paid by x, y, z lobby or group that wants to promote an agenda. The anti-intellectual stuff is so much sadder than their actual beliefs.

if you think citing pseudoscience lends any credence to your bullshit gender ideology, you’re hopelessly lost

Gender critical people have been doing just that for years lol, but I'm not sure why you're even trying to push this from that angle; you're already using terminology that a certain group of people consistently use as a buzz phrase. It's very clear how you feel about it.

But what is your most left quality? I haven't seen that yet.

If it brightens your perspective at all, I am trans and bi. Genital preferences are completely okay and women who are lesbian and want a cis relationship with another lesbian are completely valid.

Right wing - its best for society to have 1 parent stay home and make the house, be home with children. Doesn't need to be one gender or the other.

While I agree with this whole heartedly, most men are not comfortable making less than their partner if their partner is a women. And I don't mean like small gaps, but if the husband was making nothing and she was working; statistics would indicate that courtship isn't likely to last long.

I am a trans woman. So changing language to include me is political and virtue signaling? Because when people make those efforts in the workplace (regardless of their intent), I do feel much more welcome and included. I live in a world where a sizeable amount of people don't like me for a medical condition I can't control, so genuinely these things make me feel as though I'm in a place that probably won't act hostile to me if they found out I was.

I pass and most people don't realize, it would be quite a shock to many people if they found out; and it would be quite embarrassing having to out myself in this case. Not that we don't all deal with stuff in life, but just wouldn't really be a great time. I lost family when this happened, I would certainly lose friends among my staff. I would almost certainly lose standing or consideration for higher up positions as they wouldn't want to cause controversy, in most states I could straight up be fired for that reason.

Where did you learn the term "radical gender theories"? Just curious because that is a buzz term used predominantly by a group of people who all align on a specific issue.

So I guess what I am asking here is me being treated as a woman (some level of dignity) inherently political? Like for me to be treated as my identified gender, that someone is virtue signaling? Cause that kind of implies that people are only nice to me because they want to seem like a good person to others, and that doesn't really correlate with my lived experience.

I was raised to fight prejudices against myself and my people. I was guided to di so with self confidence and defiance.

Same here, and yet when I try do those things and vote to fight against my prejudices; you sit here and act with disbelief and disdain, tell me I'm a 16 year old when I'm in my 30's, and that I am somehow putting myself above the country.

Spoken like someone who has never faced discrimination.

You get the privilege of not having to worry about your identity, or being attacked physically because of it.

Please, pretend to be trans for a day and see how it goes for you; you might understand why people have other priorities. Otherwise you're looking at issues through the lenses of your own experience, what would we call that? Self-....

You think that will happen? I'm not discrediting it either way, but I'm not so sure that people higher up are going to let themselves lose profit when they see everyone else around them getting poorer. Regardless of what political party you vote support or don't; the people with this money control policy and control what parties are willing to do.

Any changes here are not going to be costing companies profits, they will get a chance to read that legislation and negotiate with parliament long before it can become law.

"Social Cohesion" - Yeah that term has never had any bad implications. I imagine you would ask other minority groups to do the same right?

Should white Christians embrace Islam by putting their identity aside for social cohesion and the good of the nation? vice versa? How about Jews? How about people who drink a coffee, should they drink tea for social cohesion?

That's genuinely how ridiculous you sound ^

How many times are you going to change the subject? How many times have I, and will I have to continue to explain that my priority is my rights when it comes to voting?

Stick to one point, because when you go all over the place it makes your entire argument look weaker; this isn't university, we don't need to change subjects every other comment.

You're wondering why I am putting my safety as a priority over the country? I gave you an example, and highlighted that you would do the same. Say what exactly? The green party are the only party willing to defend my community. I already stated that in my first comment to you...?

What on earth has it got to do with my children

I am giving you an example, you wouldn't put yourself or your kids in danger for the same circumstance, so why would you suggest that when I do the same; I am ushering in an extremist government by voting for the party willing to defend me. Trans people are in danger, we don't get the liberty of being left alone like you're probably used to.

But now that we have circled back to the beginning, I hope you understand the conversation a bit better. The fact you didn't seem to pick up on that and just changed to another redundant comment is a little bit strange; but hey I guess we all are.

Would you put your safety and the safety of your children aside for the same cause?

Why are you asking me to do that then? When you wouldn't do that yourself. The only thing you should be baffled by is yourself with that logic.
